The main goal of Preparatory Department for foreign citizens is to teach Russian language for foreigners, which is given more than 50% of the time.

The training is conducted in full-time and distance form in Russian and is carried out in groups of 5 to 15 people.

In 2026/2027 academic year admission is conducted for extra-budgetary (paid) places and for budgetary places (funded from the budget allocations of the federal budget).

Foreign citizens who have successfully completed the additional educational program and successfully passed the final assessment receive a Certificate of completion of the Preparatory Department in Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. Students who haven鈥檛 completed training by additional general education program receive a certificate of the established sample with a list of the subjects studied and their scope upon their written application.

To study at the Preparatory Department, persons with an education not lower than the general secondary or secondary professional, confirmed by the relevant document, are allowed.

Students of the Preparatory Department are provided with a hostel.

Training period:

• October 2026 - July 2027 (as groups are formed).

The period for submitting documents for admission to full-time education using distance learning technologies:
02.03.2026 - 30.09.2026

Application period for full-time enrollment:
02.03.2026 - 31.07.2026

To study at the Preparatory Department for foreign citizens in full-time with the use of distance learning technologies, it is necessary:

1. Download the on the site, fill out, sign and scan.
2. Make a scanned copy of the identity document with a notarized translation into Russian (all pages). * The validity period of the passport must be at least 18 months from the start of training.
3. Make a scanned copy of a document of a foreign state on secondary general or secondary vocational education, with an appendix (if the latter is provided for by the legislation of the state in which the document was issued), or on higher education with an appendix. * Unreadable scanned images of documents, as well as images containing loss of significant parts of the document, are not allowed. Each document shall be loaded with a single file with the correct name reflecting its content.
4. Send a scanned copy of the application and documents by e-mail: poig@sutd.ru.
5. Obtain a training agreement at the Preparatory Department for foreign citizens, print, sign and scan.
6. Send a scanned copy of the signed contract by e-mail: poig@sutd.ru.

* Do not provide unreadable scanned images of documents, as well as images containing loss of significant parts of the document. Each document shall be loaded with a single file with the correct name reflecting its content.

For full-time education at the Preparatory Department for foreign citizens, it is necessary:

1. Download the application on the site, fill out, sign and scan.

5. Send a scanned copy of the application and documents by e-mail: poig@sutd.ru.
6. Obtain a training contract at the Preparatory Department for foreign citizens, print, sign and scan.
7. Send a scanned copy of the signed contract by e-mail: poig@sutd.ru.
8. Make an advance payment in accordance with the contract.
9. An invitation will be sent by e-mail in 30-40 days.
10. After receiving an invitation, apply in your country to the Embassy or Consulate of the Russian Federation for an entry study visa to St. Petersburg.
11. Arrive in St. Petersburg with the originals of the necessary documents no later than 28.09.2026.

The preparatory department for foreign citizens reserves the right not to enroll an applicant, while the grounds for such a decision may remain confidential.

Registration of invitations to enter the Russian Federation is carried out only for applicants recommended by the Preparatory Department for enrollment.

Upon arrival in Saint-Petersburg, during the first working day, report to the address: office 407, 54 Sadovaya st.

Preparatory Department for foreign citizens with the following documents:

• national passport;
• notarized translation of the national passport;
• migration card (issued at the border);
• a medical certificate indicating that the student has no medical contraindications for studying and staying in the Russian Federation, with a period of examination of no more than 3 months, as well as a certificate of vaccination (for those who will live in a hostel);
• notarized translation of the medical certificate, as well as the certificate of vaccination (for those who will live in a hostel);
• 6 photos (3x4 cm).

Possible expenses upon arrival in Saint-Petersburg:
