Senior Lecturer of the Institute of Graphic Design Ƶ Dariya Yurievna Jems-Levy took part in the IV All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Cyril and Methodius Heritage: Literature, Culture, Education." The event, dedicated to the celebration of the Days of Slavic Writing and Culture, took place at the Baltic Federal University. Kant in Kaliningrad.
At the plenary session, Dariya Yuryevna presented a unique calligraphic edition of contemporary artists of the oldest monument of Slavic poetry of the 9th century - the prayers of Konstantin Preslavsky. The teacher also held an open lecture for students and conference participants, where she spoke about the process of working on a handwritten book. The project is an author's edition, on which four calligraphers worked: D. Yu. James-Levy, V. Z. Bobrikova, E. L. Volkova and A. A. Baskov (Uppit). Daria Yuryevna owns the idea of the project, she acted as its curator, and also created illustrations and part of calligraphic compositions.
The publication is distinguished by a complex technical design: the book is printed by hand using the silk-screen technique with white paint on black paper from ARCHES 250 g/m. The hand binding was made according to the author's sketch by the master bookbinder Marionilla Salomatova using natural silk, moire, leather and silver inserts. The case for the book is covered with genuine leather.
