City Student Press Center was established at Ƶ in 2008.
City Student Press Center represents an innovative approach to media education:
- Bringing together students’ and youth media
- The City School of Journalism and Publishing
- Educational events for journalists and youth editorial boards members.
City Student Press Center is a voluntary association of creative and humanitarian studies students of St. Petersburg higher educational institutions, including young journalists, designers, publishers, illustrators, photographers, editors, experts in the field of advertising and public relations.
The student press center focuses on the following areas:
1. Education:
- Northwestern Youth Forum ‘Media Start’ (Media Forum)
- THE CITY SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM AND PUBLISHING which holds weekly master classes, workshops, lectures and seminars inviting professional publishers, journalists and prominent media experts. Excursions to the editorial and publishing offices, printing establishments, television and news agencies, and other company visits are organised by the school.
- THE SCHOOL OF MEDIA BUSINESS manages students’ media camps, intensive coursers on media business development and entreprenership.
- ART BUSINESS SCHOOL is an innovative business school for artists, designers and creative industry professionals.
- EVENT BUSINESS SCHOOL organises event management educational camps .
- RADIO JOURNALISM SCHOOL offers thematic courses on rhetoric and public speaking, radio directing, editing and broadcasting, presenting recorded and on-air radio shows.
2. Communication:
- The press center organises panel discussions, meetings and conferences where students’ and youth media representatives may share experiences discussing youth media development perspectives, challenging problems and their solutions.
3. Information Support:
- The press center maintains the Single Information Resource of students’ and youth events, schools of media arts; Media Accreditation Center where students of St. Petersburg higher educational institutions can register for local, regional and national-level events as journalists, reporters and photographers.
4. Internships database:
- Students of St. Petersburg higher educational institutions have the opportunity to do academic and practical trainings in the Press Center or various media and publishing companies.
5. Student Labor Exchange for Young Journalists and Publishers:
- The press center works in cooperation with the City Student Labour Exchange.
- Personnel pool for publishing and media industries.
City Student Press Center cooperates with the Committee for Youth Policy and Social Organizations Interaction, Committee for the Press and Mass Media Cooperation, City Student Labour Exchange, Russian Media Union, Student Editorial Board, and many sports, cultural and educational centers of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
6. Russian and international art-media projects:
- Since 2018, Press Center has been organising exhibitions in educational and cultural institutions of St. Petersburg based on the results of the International Media Project “Chronicles of Victory: from the Family Archive”, the International Media Project “Petrovsky Petersburg”, the International ART-MEDIA Project “Petersburg – 320” and others
The City Student Press Centre cooperates with the Committee for Press and Media Relations, the Committee for Youth Policy, the Union of Journalists of Russia, the City Student Labour Exchange, the Media Union of the Russian Federation, as well as with cultural, sports and educational centres of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
