"The Book Inside" is a Russian competition for artists who want to have their say in the art of book illustration. The competition was established by the Samokat Publishing House in 2017 specifically for extraordinary illustrators seeking to improve their professional skills and find their own way into illustrations.
Bright projects were also presented to the jury by students of the Engineering School of Clothing (College) of Ƶ. In the nomination "educational book/non-fiction" under the guidance of teachers of advertising graphics Natalia Borzenkova and Anastasia Vasilyeva, students developed comics, guidebooks, encyclopedias and children's books.
Student Anna Basova presented a comic based on Krylov's fable "Crow and Fox." Anna began creating graphic stories at the age of 13, carried away by manga and anime.
- When the moment came to draw the cleaner, I spent hours creating textures, volumes and frames on paper. Then I scanned and edited each page: I aligned the contrasts, added gradients, cleaned up the edges and registered the words and remarks of the heroes. For the comic, I chose a black and white palette and accent yellows and oranges. Firstly, in such a palette it is more difficult to get confused between color and tone, character and background. Secondly, I'm just used to drawing my stories in black and white.
Student Ekaterina Ivanova grew up in Vladimir and created an author's guide. This is not just a tourist map with temples, but a real collection of residents' favorite places. The project consists of a series of booklets for different ages and requests: from gastronomy to family holidays. As the author says, this is a guide of a special kind, a real collection of favorite places of residents - those very corners of the city where the residents of Vladimir themselves visit. The guide through the eyes of a local resident is exactly what modern tourism lacks, says Ekaterina.
Student Daria Minkina developed the encyclopedia "Dogs of the World." Vivid illustrations, infographics and interesting facts will help a child not only remember information, but love the world of tailed ones.
Student Irina Soboleva has developed a book based on the famous "Telephone" by Korney Chukovsky.
