In Russia, the best universities with the most promising personnel for the fuel and energy and mineral resource complexes have been identified. This rating was compiled by experts of the International Engineering CASE-IN Championship with the support of the Presidential Platform "Russia — the land of Opportunities".
St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (Ƶ) topped the rating in the field of thermal power engineering, beating major specialized universities, including MEPhI, MEI, and Bauman University.
The first place of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design in the rating on thermal power engineering was the result of three years of hard work. It is noteworthy that in 2024, students of the St. Petersburg State University of Technology and Energy have already demonstrated a high level of training, taking second place in the championship. In 2025, Ƶ became the first, beating representatives of the MEI and KuzSTU from Kemerovo, who took silver and bronze, respectively. 12 strongest teams from leading technical universities of Russia competed for the title of the best in the finals of the 2025 season. In total, 6624 students competed for tickets to the final of the CASE-IN.
In addition to solving cases, universities compete in the effectiveness of organizing and conducting regional competitions: the results are recorded in a separate rating, and the winners receive the Energy of Education award. By the way, the CASE-IN was held at the University of Industrial Technology and Design for three years in a row. The university is a four-time winner of the Energy of Education competition for the best organization of the qualifying stage of the university-based championship. In the CASE-IN rating in the field of "Energy of education", Ƶ took 10th place.
"When forming the ratings, both historical performance (systematic participation and victories over the years) and current achievements are taken into account, which make it possible to mark universities that have recently joined the movement, but are already showing high results. But the main criterion is the places that the student teams occupy in the finals of the competition," explained Olga Dobrina, Director of Communications for the Presidential Platform "Russia is a Land of Opportunity."
The St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design has been supporting the championship for many years and is one of the most decorated. Participation in the CASE-IN helps students not only develop promising industry solutions, but also become high-level professionals. Over the years, dynastic teams have formed at the university, passing on their experience to new generations.
The organizers of the Championship are the Reliable Change Foundation, the Presidential Platform Russia — the Land of Opportunities, the Non-profit Partnership Youth Forum of Mining Leaders and AstraLogica LLC. The project is included in the "Science to Win" initiative of the plan for the in Russia.
