Tatiana's Day is all the beauty of winter: the St. Petersburg Culture Media Center hosted a vernissage by Peter Gamayunov, Professor of Ƶ
23 January

On January 22, 2026, the personal exhibition of Peter Gamayunov, professor of the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, "Tatiana's Day - all the beauty of Winter" opened at the St. Petersburg Culture Media Center.

Painting and fashion were closely intertwined on this day. The opening day consisted of a press conference and a fashion show created by students and graduates of Ƶ. The guests of the media center were greeted by Irina Kizilova, Deputy Director of the Institute of Cultural Programs, who reminded the audience of the long-term cooperation between the two cultural institutions. After that, Lyubov Dzhikiya, Head of the Department of Costume Design at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, presented a collection dedicated to winter and Tatiana's Day. Asya Akinshina presented the Tundra collection, inspired by the nature of Lake Baikal and the Russian North. Designer Askar Akhmetgareev created the Obscura collection, the concept of which is a manifesto of secret knowledge. The source of inspiration for the creation of Ekaterina Kulikova's Baikal clothing collection was the majestic and beautiful nature, the purity and splendor of the lake.

"As a general trend, I would note the appearance of a complex white color in the works of our designers, whereas a year or two ago everyone tried to work mainly in black or dark blue colors, this year there was a desire for white. Our department will also surprise the viewer with interesting silhouettes and unique decorative details. What is happening today at the St. Petersburg Culture Media Center is, of course, an important cultural event," Alyona Shishanova, Associate Professor of Costume Design at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, commented on the show.

It is no coincidence that the exhibition is timed to coincide with the holiday of Russian students. The main "culprit" of the event, the painter Pyotr Gamayunov, is directly related to science: he is a professor at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, director of the Costume Design Institute of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.

"Over the years, Peter Petrovich has educated a whole galaxy of talented students. Fashion is not only fashion, it is a whole stratum that includes a combination of common cultural and spiritual values. This approach is obvious in the work of the master, he has a fantastic command of the technique of dry pastels and is one of the leading masters in this field. The master's painting is filled with light, air, and a special flatness that contributes to the formation of clothing design. And the artist's paintings are very organically combined with the fashion show," Professor Lyubov Dzhikiya, head of the Department of Costume Design at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, supported her colleague.

The exhibition presents winter landscapes made in the technique of pastel and oil painting. The paintings were created while traveling in Russia: from Karelia to the Far East. But the main motive is the artist's native land. A native of the Irkutsk region, Gamayunov has maintained his love for the blue expanses of Lake Baikal, the snow-white caps of the Sayan Mountains and the soft greenery of the steppes for many years after moving to St. Petersburg. These motifs determine the variety of the master's paintings and the unusual color scheme of the paintings.

"In the media center, you can see winter Baikal, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, and eastern Siberia. I often visit Baikal during the New Year holidays. You can't leave there without taking new material with you: sketches, sketches, photographs, which later turn into paintings. I love Siberia in January, when winter is in full swing, the sky becomes clearer and more saturated with colors. And there is something subtle that speaks of the coming spring," Pyotr Petrovich shared his impressions.

The speakers of the event have repeatedly mentioned the soothing effect of the master's landscapes, executed with sincere love for Russian nature. You can verify the correctness of their words personally by visiting the exhibition, which will last until February 5.

The St. Petersburg Culture Media Center is a project of the Institute of Cultural Programs and the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture.
