The II Digital Forum, the theme of which was design in the era of neural networks and artificial intelligence, has completed its work in St. Petersburg. What AI services and tools are available to Russian users, is it necessary to raise the issue of copyright when using neural networks, and is there a request from the market for a new generation of personnel ready to train AI to work at the request of manufacturers? These questions were answered by experts in the field of artificial intelligence, leaders in the field of bringing technological products and services to the market, representatives of the organizers of the forum: St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design, Gazprom Neft, VK, BEAC. The educational part of the forum presented training on working with a neural network, with voice assistants, generative design, and the competent integration of artificial intelligence into business processes. Lectures and master classes were held at the Boiling Point of the University of Industrial Technology and Design. The second platform of the forum was the Laboratory of Virtual Fashion and Digital Design of the same St. Petersburg university. The laboratory is equipped with a human growth scanner, a VR zone and an additive technology zone, and equipment for object scanning and modeling. Here, in real time, with the process displayed on the screen, the students of Ƶ designed digital clothes based on futuristic images of personal protective equipment with ethnic ornaments from Gazprom Neft. So, on the mannequin, the guests watched real costumes, and next to it on the screen the process of work of digital fashion designers was demonstrated.
Each guest could take part in the creation of their own avatar. To do this, it was necessary to stand on the platform of a growth scanner, by the way, of domestic production, go through the scanning process and after a short computer processing, the guest received his digital copy. And as a gift, the organizers even sent the created avatars in an animated format: dancing or any other movement on request. So, during the two days of the forum, the organizers created 160 avatars of visitors.
Another place of attraction was the VK Education interactive zone, where forum guests could take a test and learn their profession in the IT world, and the neural network offered participants to create their own digital avatar. It was also possible to chat with voice assistant Marusya, who, together with a VK employee, conducted a blitz and introduced the forum guests to the creative platform Prostor from VK. More than 200 guests of the forum took part in activities in the VK Education zone.
But what limits the neural network market in Russia today? What problems need to be solved in order for artificial intelligence to become a tool of work, not a weapon? Granislav Artemyeva, Head of Creative Industries at VK, answers: "The main problem is the issue of copyright in virtual work. For example, a neural network has generated a track using someone's voice, it has been posted on the network, it is being listened to. But all this needs to be regulated from the point of view of rights. There should be a mass education program so that people understand the difference between a license agreement and a condemnation of rights and so on. Even from the point of view of a photo posted online that wasn't taken by you. These things need to be known and understood."
Denis Zaporozhan, Design director for product and communication design at Gazprom Neft, noted that neural networks in the design process and in design tools are not even the future, but the present of the profession. But for the development of models, the results of professional activity of specialists will always be needed. Denis also spoke about a tool developed at Gazprom Neft called the Consta Design System. A master class on working with her was included in the educational part of the forum. Here's what we learned about the product: Consta is an open source solution for creating digital product interfaces. Interfaces of a large number of Gazprom Neft digital products have already been implemented on its components. "By creating an interface on the Consta Design System, the team "reuses" ready-made, developed and tested components and entire interface blocks. This significantly speeds up the development process," Denis Zaporozhan stressed.

One of the events of the forum was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Ƶ and VK. The parties agreed on the joint development of creative industries through educational and competitive projects, the introduction of new technologies, including on the resources of the VKontakte social network. The direction of FashionTech was discussed, in particular digital clothing and NFT, which are already present on the platform and require further development.
"First of all, it is important for the university to work in a real problem field, which is located outside the university. We do not focus on ourselves, otherwise we risk losing relevance in terms of the emergence of new knowledge, the transfer of this knowledge, research and timely analytics. Therefore, companies like VK are an opportunity to take on real market challenges, for which we can train personnel and conduct scientific research. The most important thing is that if students are involved in the process, as a result they will receive the competencies that the labor market requires. Many people are faced with the fact that a specialist who has just left the walls of universities needs to be retrained and trained. It's not really a problem. Today, it is necessary to immerse the university in real activities, then future specialists will work in real conditions even at the training stage, which means they will receive the competencies that the employer needs. These issues can be solved in narrow programs, in some forms of training with a specific company, or you can en masse: implement training areas with a pool of companies that have the same tasks and problems. Therefore, companies are interested in the university, and for the University of Industrial Technology and Design, interaction with them is vital, especially since we claim to be a leader in the field of digital design. This is not measured only in the number of awards and exhibitions, it is characterized by the number of our guys who will work in VK-level companies, in the number of our developments and scientific research that will be implemented in these companies. Therefore, here we can achieve success only in cooperation, in which all parties are interested," comments Maxim Ermachkov, director of the project office of the scientific and technological initiative of Ƶ

VKontakte and the University of Industrial Technology and Design held a two-day public talk about design in the era of neural networks and AI. The open studio was visited by 15 experts from VK, Gazprom Neft, Sberbank and other companies. The coverage of the II Digital Forum amounted to about 250,000 visitors, both real and online guests..
