Spiritual culture in higher education: Ƶ hosted a conference on the values of the modern personality

The XIII scientific and practical conference "Spiritual and Moral Culture in Higher Education" was held at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (Ƶ). The meanings and values of the modern personality". The event is being held in preparation for the International Youth Interreligious Forum, which will be held at the Rossiya National Center at the end of November this year.

The conference became a platform where students, experts, religious leaders and government representatives had a deep dialogue about the values that unite people regardless of faith. The participants had to consider the issues of science and religion in the context of coexistence and mutual assistance, determine the role of music, cinema and fashion in the formation of spiritual values, determine what helps the student to adapt to adulthood, how his spiritual world is formed.

The event was opened by Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Alexey Demidov, Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Vladimir Filippov, President of the RUDN University, Varsonofy, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Archpriest Peter Mukhin, Executive Director of the Pokrov Association, Irina Ganus, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education, and rectors of theological educational organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church.

During the conference, experts made presentations on the ideas of students' life success, family values, and social conditions of personal development at universities. The issues of moral imperatives in the implementation of academic freedom in Russian higher education, moral culture in the context of the crisis of the meanings of Russian civilization were raised.

The experts shared their experience of the participation of spiritual educational organizations in the formation of a system of moral education in universities, overcoming the consumerist orientation, which is a strategic goal of developing education and the potential of Orthodox pedagogy.

The topics of personality education in the context of the development of artificial intelligence and the transformation of the value foundations of scientific activity in the era of AI were touched upon. The ethical dilemmas of using artificial intelligence by students in the learning process were considered. The results of research on youth values and tools for actualizing traditional values among young people are presented. Also, within the framework of the conference, a pilgrimage trip of the participants and guests of the conference to the Nikolsky Monastery took place.
