The 31st Admiralteyskaya Igla International Fashion, Art and Design Festival, dedicated to the theme of conscious elegance, has come to an end at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, bringing together leading professionals and talented young people from different countries.
The festival has once again confirmed its status as a major international platform for demonstrating creative achievements and sharing experiences. Its more than thirty-year history strengthens cultural ties and helps identify new trends in global fashion.
In 2025, the competition received over 650 entries from Russia and other countries. A jury of experts from Russia, Belarus, China, India, Italy and other countries determined the winner of the Grand Prix. Its owner was Daria Foroponova from Kursk with the collection "Abracadabra", Daria received the main prize of 500,000 rubles from the founder of the Festival of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design for the development of the brand.
The main visual discovery of 2025 was the unusual design of the SPbGUPTD concert hall. The space has been turned into a grand cinema: the amphitheater is located opposite a huge screen that covers the entire width of the podium. This decision made each show a large-scale spectacle, where fashion and dynamic video sequences merged into a fascinating performance. The festival opened with a "One Step Ahead" show featuring collections by young Russian designers, graduates of Ƶ. Among the projects were a collection for the University's sports club PROMTECHNESIGN, which was presented by the university's leading athletes.; a collection of uniforms for transport workers and employees of the St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise Passazhiravtotrans, also developed by students of St. Petersburg State University of Applied Sciences; folklore collection "Russian Style" for the children's dance group "Fornosovo"; children's clothing "St. Petersburg" from the Talented Youth award winner Stefania Selezneva (brand "LisWards"), which she dedicated to one one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and a fascinating collection of evening dresses from designer Valentina Klushina.

Guests could also visit the Fashion Kaleidoscope exhibition and the B. M.18 showroom featuring the works of the finalist designers.
Alexey Vyacheslavovich Demidov, President of the festival, Rector of Ƶ, noted the impressive geography of participants and stressed the importance of supporting young talents:
"This year, the geography of the festival is truly impressive. The Admiralty Needle always arouses genuine interest among designers from all over Russia and from many countries of the world. It is important for us to give talented students the opportunity to express their creativity, as well as receive competent recommendations from leading experts in the fashion industry."
During the fashion lecture and press conference, members of the international jury and leading fashion experts noted the high level of organization of the festival, as well as discussed new trends in fashion, which are being formed by young designers, among others.
Anastasia Kotova (trend bureau CARLIN Creative, France-Russia):
"It was interesting for me to observe the trends that await us in the near future in the collections of the participants of the competition program. In the spring-summer 2026 season, we will move away from the cacophony, from the variety of style combinations, and the "information diet" in clothing. In the design, this idea is expressed through calm beige shades, to which delicate pink tones are added. They can be enhanced with an accent of creamy orange or chocolate color. Another trend is the development of a classic style with the addition of feminine and asymmetrical cut details. These trends are already being shaped in many ways by the participants of the Admiralty Needle."
Stanislav Zimin (Trendsite Agency):
"At the festival, I saw many existing and expected trends among the works of the participants, for example, a combination of black and dramatic red colors. Neo—expressionism in collections with bright colors and picturesque prints is just the trend of "spring-summer 2027". Among the works of the participants, we also saw a trend for work clothes, which we call "work couture". Of course, neo—ethnicity in a new interpretation, in a new vision, is generally a macro trend that already existed many seasons ago and will continue for a long time."
Alexander Peremyatov, Vice President of the Union of Shopping Centers of Russia and founder of the federal chain of department stores of Russian designers Slava concept:
"The main values of the collections that I saw are the capacity of the Russian and Russian cultural code, which makes it possible to safely conclude about the reverse international integration of our meanings. If we used to learn from Europeans, now we ourselves act as guides of new traditional meanings. If we talk about domestic retail, it can be noted that currently it is not a very simple time, one of the potential competitive advantages may be access to international markets. Such contests as the Admiralty Needle are a kind of "bridge" to the world of international trade."
Analyzing intercultural communications, Isha Ali Alvi, Head of Global Communications and Cultural Diplomacy at Greenwich University (Karachi, Pakistan) expressed the opinion that fashion unites countries, cultural codes and continents.
Manpreet Nagi, CEO of Sunny Enterprises (India, New Delhi):
"I was amazed at how much work and effort the students put into preparing their collections. The Admiralty Needle surpasses many other international festivals in terms of its level of preparation. This demonstrates the professionalism of the students and their mentoring teachers. It's incredibly inspiring."
The VIP show "Conscious Elegance" was held with the participation of collections of famous designers from Russia, Belarus, India, Tajikistan and other countries.
The audience saw the works of a wide variety of authors and brands. Among them is Morpheus from the Chinese brand Shunru and Lisa Anisimova, a student of Ƶ and a St. Petersburg artist, which is a unique synthesis of cultural codes.
For the first time, the collection of traditional Pakistani wedding fashion "Midnight Dream" by the outstanding couturier Deepak Pervani was presented to the audience. At the show, one could see the unique national embroidery and gemstone decoration.
The audience also saw the collections "The Wild" by Pavel Kovalevsky from Grodno (Belarus) and "Terra Incognita" by Yulia Suravtsova from Moscow (Russia).
The collections of denim with national ornaments by the founder of the UMED COLLECTION brand, the famous designer Umed Kuchkaliev from Dushanbe (Tajikistan), left an indelible impression.
The real anthem of femininity, the collection "Sublimation" by Svetlana Topalova from the Donetsk People's Republic, was especially liked by women.
Also, for the first time in Russia, the Cuban project "Malecon" from the DADOR brand by designer Raquel Janero was presented. This collection embodies the calm power and elegance of the Havana skyline, a meeting place of sea, stone and sky.
The collection with Russian national motifs "Shuiskaya Bird" was presented, created in collaboration with designer Ksenia Demyanenko-Novikova and the Shuisky Calico company (Ivanovo, Russia). This collection tells about rebirth, traditions and Russian culture. Her key image is a bird protecting its owner as a symbol of the flight of the Russian soul.
Special attention was drawn to the collection "Royalty" — the "Royal dignity" of the young designer Hansina Toromba from Namibia. This is an African-style work that celebrates the beauty of the Namibian landscape, combining bold national prints with an elegant wedding aesthetic.
The audience was also impressed by the TUNDRA collection of the multiple winner of the Admiralty Needle competition program Asi Akinshina (St. Petersburg, Russia) and the Shine by Right collection of the duo Artyom and Alexey Anatsky (Donetsk, Russia), winners of the Admiralty Needle 2014, owners of the largest Fashion House in the Donetsk region ANATSKY.".
The collection "My Land" by Anna Sergunova-Kozyreva made a vivid impression. "My Land" is a man—made manifesto woven from threads of memory, artistic clothing in which the breath of tradition meets the rhythm of modernity.

The festival ended on October 23 with the Fashion of the Continents Gala, where the winners were awarded and Olga Malyarova's collection "My Future is You" was presented.
