Daria Stepanenko, a student of the Department of Monumental Art at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design, has developed a design project for the Nevsky Palace of Culture in St. Petersburg. The architectural object, which is one of the iconic points on the map of Leningrad's artistic life, was designed as part of a student's thesis.

The Nevsky Recreation Center, built in 1972, is known as the venue for one of the first exhibitions of unofficial art, which gave its name to the so-called Gazanovskaya culture, as well as vivid concert performances by Leningrad rock musicians in the 1980s. In her work, Daria demonstrated the project of an animated projection of the composition on the window of the central facade of the Nevsky Palace of Culture. Using multimedia projection, the author presented animated compositions dedicated to the iconic Leningrad musical groups of the 1980s: "Cinema", "Auctioneer" and "Zoo".

The innovative nature of the project is due to the fact that currently existing technologies make it possible to project images and videos onto various architectural objects and thereby make these compositions more effective, spectacular and designed for interested perception by young viewers — the main listeners of rock music.

The animated video, created by Daria on the basis of numerous sketches and designed to show what the project can become as a result of its implementation, is a set of bright and dynamic compositions in tune with the energetic atmosphere of rock concerts at the Nevsky Recreation Center and other venues in the Northern capital.

The project will allow the architectural object to return to the status it had before, and will help make one of the iconic pages of the history of Russian rock closer to modern citizens.
