The international competition for shoe and accessory designers, Shoes-Style, has come to an end in Moscow. This year, 75 collections of shoes and accessories were presented at the competition, developed by students from universities, colleges and technical schools in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ulan-Ude, Belarus, Uzbekistan and China. Students from the University of Industrial Technologies and Design, who are studying at the university under the Professionalism programme, won the competition.
The winners of the ‘Bright Start’ nomination were students of the College of Technology, Modelling and Management of Ƶ Svetlana Gulyayeva with the collection ‘Leather and Bones’ and Victoria Konkova with the collection ‘Marshmallow and Chocolate’.
‘I came up with the concept for the ‘Leather and Bones’ collection by thinking about the contrast between the strength and fragility of the human body, and I became interested in trying to reflect this in a full-fledged collection of accessories. In the process of working, it was important for me to create recognisable shapes while maintaining the conciseness of the models. With this collection, I wanted to show that even the human body can be a source of inspiration for a designer."
Svetlana Gulyayeva, author of the “Skin and Bones” collection

‘The concept of my collection, Marshmallow and Chocolate, was to add elegance and a touch of playfulness to everyday life with such an indispensable accessory as a woman's handbag. I can't say why marshmallow, probably because this dessert is associated with coquetry and sophistication for me, but I can say for sure that the desire to create a collection, as well as the idea, appeared during the first ProDvizhenie show, where I was a volunteer. At that time, the catwalk was overflowing with such diverse ideas and their vivid embodiments that it was impossible not to be inspired by this creative splendour! I tried to diversify my collection with several different bag designs and used various techniques in my work. Now I am so involved in this wonderful haberdashery and footwear industry that I am already working on my next collection and definitely do not intend to stop there! I wish the same for all my colleagues, both current and future.
Author of the ‘Marshmallow and Chocolate’ collection, Victoria Konkova

In addition, the winners included designers, graduates and masters of ‘Professionalism’, students of the Department of Leather Goods Design and Technology named after Prof. A.S. Shvarts Department of Leather Goods Design and Technology at St. Petersburg State University of Leather Goods Design and Technology, Valeria Grebenkina and Lyubov Gimatina, with their collection ‘Bows,’ who participated in the competition online. Their collection is dedicated to teenage leather boots that combine boldness and playfulness. All boots are decorated with bright accent bows.
