The largest in the Eurasian space discussion platform in the field of labor relations - the International Labor Forum - has finished its work in St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design for the first time acted as a partner in the most important event in the field of labor relations.
In the plenary session “Human Capital. Investments in the Future” in Expoforum was attended by Alexey Demidov, Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, as well as the development team of the St. Petersburg university. The meeting addressed issues related to changes in the labor market and possible solutions regulating the employment sphere.
At the exhibition “Personnel. Management. Security” was presented the stand of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design, dedicated to the activities of the Institute of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment created in September 2024 under the auspices of Rostrud. The focuses on training specialists to work both in the Federal Labor Inspectorate and at large Russian enterprises. Representatives of the Admissions Office of Ƶ told the Forum guests about the Institute's activities, bachelor's and master's degree programs, as well as about careers in public service. Today the Institute trains specialists in labor protection, personnel management and social work with youth.
The stand of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design was visited by Mikhail Ivankov, head of Rostrud, who noted the innovative program of the university in the field of digital clothing fitting, implemented at the Department of Digital and Additive Technologies of Ƶ. The training takes place in the university laboratory with the use of Texel Portal MX growth scanner, capable of scanning a person, creating his digital avatar and simultaneously taking more than a hundred measurements of his body. The equipment was presented at the stand of the university, everyone could try on overalls on their virtual 3D model.
The Forum included a series of events on labor protection. The central event here was the panel discussion “Institute of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment - training of specialists in the field of technosphere safety, personnel management and social work”, where the experts of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design told about the goals and objectives of the Institute of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment operating in the structure of the university, as well as the specifics of training future specialists. The work of the Institute was reported by the vice-rector for the development of educational programs of Ƶ Natalia Klimova, director of the Institute Vyacheslav Lopatin and deputy director for additional vocational education Ƶ Oleg Alexeev.
“Today the Institute of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment of Ƶ trains specialists in three bachelor's degree programs, next year the admission is announced for four bachelor's degree programs and two master's degree programs. Distinctive features of training at the Institute are deep integration of Rostrud and State Labor Inspectorate of St. Petersburg employees into the design and implementation of programs, availability of practical training and internships from the first year, unified modules in law, management, psychology, information technology. Such approaches allow to prepare a highly qualified specialist, competitive in the labor market and adapted to work at industrial enterprises and in the structures of Rostrud”.

Only through cooperation between business, government and practice-oriented education can we overcome the staff shortage and create a culture of safety. Our educational programs, including real-life case studies and interaction with the State Labor Inspectorate of St. Petersburg, are aimed at ensuring that specialists do not just know the theory, but immediately apply the skills in practice. This will reduce injuries and help businesses avoid fines. It is important for employers to move from reacting to violations to preventing them. A risk-based approach and quality employee training is key to reducing accidents.”

Students of Ƶ actively showed themselves at the Forum as volunteers. Students of the departments of social work and law, engineering chemistry and industrial ecology, advertising and public relations and brand communications helped in organizing events, orientation of guests in the pavilions, were participants of meetings, sessions, round tables. And journalism and PR students took part in the workshop for young professionals “HR PRLight”, following the results of which they were awarded diplomas for its successful completion.
In the walls of Ƶ during the Labor Forum there was an open dialogue between the management of Rostrud, the State Labor Inspectorate in St. Petersburg and the rector of Ƶ with students and teachers of the Institute of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment created in the university. At the meeting the key issues of training qualified personnel and their effective employment were discussed. Head of Rostrud Mikhail Ivankov noted that the students of the Institute have a unique opportunity from the first year of study to undergo an internship in the State Labor Inspectorate in St. Petersburg, gain valuable experience with real cases, most quickly and effectively immerse themselves in professional activities.
