Anastasia Kolpak, a student of the Institute of Applied Arts of Ƶ, has created jewelry sets inspired by St. Petersburg's landmarks as part of the Young Design 2024 competition.
One of the collections designed by the student of the University of Industrial Technology and Design consists of a pendant, a brooch and two variants of earrings and refers to the architectural details of the Singer House, another set by Anastasia was inspired by the griffins of St. Petersburg and includes earrings, a ring and a necklace. The works were made of glass using vacuum milling technology.

Within the framework of the competition “Young Design 2024” students were engaged in the development of small series of products in various techniques of art glass and ceramics, rethinking the artistic heritage of St. Petersburg.
“The Singer Company House in St. Petersburg is an unusual building with a special history. According to urban legends, in the cellars of this structure and in the secret passages there are treasures waiting for whoever finds them. One of the building's little secrets is that one of the Valkyries above the entrance is leaning on a sewing machine - it's a reference to the history of the building.”

Singer's House in St. Petersburg is a historical building on Nevsky Prospekt, one of the “visiting cards” of the city. It is an example of Art Nouveau architecture, which is characterized by decorativeness, attention to detail, the use of plant and mythological motifs, the use of non-standard materials and experimentation.
The collection consists of a pendant, a brooch and two sets of earrings. Earrings with monograms can be made in several variants: with pendants, without pendants and in asymmetrical form.
“Gryphons are creatures with the body of a lion and the wings of an eagle. You can meet them only in Egyptian and Persian mythology and in St. Petersburg! It is believed that griffins are the guardians of treasures and secret knowledge, as well as help in the fulfillment of wishes. According to one legend, once every ten years at night griffins rise into the St. Petersburg sky, but only those who truly love can see them”.

The set designed by Anastasia has several variants of earrings: some depict a griffin, others have an eagle wing of a griffin with a lion's foot hanging from it. The designer also created a pendant in the shape of a griffin and placed this mythical creature on the ring.
The concept of St. Petersburg-style jewelry was made by the student under the guidance of Marina Dudnik, associate professor of the Department of Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials and Jewelry of Ƶ. Then Anastasia Kolpak was able to translate her design into material under the supervision of Ivan Kozitsyn, a senior lecturer of the department. The vacuum milling technology developed by him gives relief to flat softened glass under the action of vacuum. After hot molding, the blanks were polished, and then mounting was performed - joining parts and fittings using tools and glue.
