At the same time in the Rotunda of the Palace, where the event took place, the diploma works of design students of Ƶ were exhibited. The evening was organized as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and the 180th anniversary of the completion of the Mariinsky Palace.

Every year the “OPERA & PODIUM” project brings together Russian and foreign students of different specialties: the art of opera singing, theater directing, costume design, graphics, design of light industry products, technology and design of textile products, stylistics and the art of make-up. The young authors present their talent while still in the training stage in a scale, professional and, putting the deepest meanings into their works, be it make-up, direction, costume, set or performance.

Each season of the project ends with a Gala Concert where arias from Russian operas are performed on stage. Costumes, sets and make-up are designed by students of the University of Industrial Technology and Design, while the performance and direction rest on the shoulders of students of the Conservatoire.

The program for the concert at the Mariinsky Palace includes arias and scenes from Pyotr Tchaikovsky's operas: Hermann's aria from The Queen of Spades and the final scene from Eugene Onegin. This evening the stage also heard excerpts from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's operas: Snegurochka's aria from the opera of the same name, Lyubasha and Bomelius' scene from The Tsar's Bride, as well as a scene from The Tale of Tsar Saltan, which received a special prize from the Legislative Assembly at the gala concert of the project in May 2024. The performers were students of the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. Costumes and makeup were made by students of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.

Supporting talented young people has long been a good tradition for the St. Petersburg Parliament. One of the confirmations of this is today's event - a concert created at the junction of several art forms at once. Such a combination meets the modern demands of society for the preservation and revival of Russian cultural traditions, awakens interest in Russian history and culture.
