St. Petersburg's first Digital Forum took place at the University of Industrial Technologies and Design
15 May

St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design hosted a Digital Forum dedicated to technologies in creative industries, integration in the economy of meta-villages, NFT, digital fashion, 3D-modeling and printing, neural networks and assessment of the current situation in retail. The forum was launched for the first time within the "Priority 2030" program of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science (National Project "Science and Universities").

The Virtual Fashion and Digital Design Lab at Ƶ hosted master classes in technological areas, presentations of speakers and representatives of brands, mastering the sphere of Fashion Tech, an exhibition of digital design, a presentation of a new space in the metaworld, created by Ƶ students, the university experts together with their partners demonstrated the real possibilities of neural networks, crypto and immersive technologies.

"For us, the Forum becomes an important platform for the introduction of new digital products in the creative industries and the fashion industry, in particular. We use it for several purposes. The first is the adoption of new technologies. Humans are so built that until they see or touch it, they don't believe it, and this is a big problem for digital products developed by students at our university. The second goal is to involve various actors in the new markets formed by the new digital products. Thus, as part of the forum, we were able to interest several large financial organizations that are considering acting as investors and customers for the projects. It is important for us to increase the number of partners from among companies, to involve those interested in project and entrepreneurial activities, and to create new teams. The third goal is to recruit competencies that we do not have, and this goal is one of the key ones. We now occupy a profitable, but difficult and responsible position as a leader in the development of certain types of digital products. It is possible to keep the leading position only with a strong team and partners", - told Maxim Ermachkov, executive director of the "Priority 2030" project office at Ƶ.

Walking around the locations of the forum, you could see real clothes being printed, people in virtual reality glasses creating new space with digital brushes, and someone trying on things that are impossible to touch and feel on themselves because they do not yet exist in the real world. Today the University of Industrial Technology and Design is the only university in Russia where digital products are created with the help of virtual fitting technology, virtual clothes are embodied in digital life, digital design is developed, and content and objects for metavalleys and the NFT sphere are created. In this regard, the university was able to gather leading experts and partners from the creative industries at the Forum.

Designer, artist, creator Sergey Savateev:

"Our specialists traditionally create digital products of a very high level. But I am convinced that digital content alone is not enough. Today there is a strong gap between creative ideas in digital performance and the actual possibilities of production. Such forums can become bridges between different professions. Show the need to develop new cross-industry platforms to work together to develop new technologies and materials, conduct research, and create a variety of accessible products."

Creative Projects Producer Artem Nuraev:

"I would like to note the main thing - it is an active interest of young creators to modern technologies and the desire to use them in their projects. The forum created an atmosphere of easy immersion into the most advanced spheres: NFT, meta-varnishes, virtual reality and 3D-printing. The experts were able to explain complicated themes in simple and understandable language and show how to use these tools in practice. I am confident that the forum served as a stimulus for entry into the new digital world for aspiring creators.

Anna Rymareva, Brand Pilot, System Promotion Consultant:

"Today we are witnessing an increasing hybridization of the real and digital worlds. And we ourselves are the first idle generation in the history of mankind, living in material abundance. Things are no longer the object of desire, material stimules are losing their power - emotions and information are gaining value. Under these conditions, brands are turning into media platforms, and the rules of competition for the hearts and wallets of the audience are seriously changing. Reflecting on these changes and outlining the vectors of work - these are the tasks of the Forum".
