Since 2022, a unique creative project that marries music, theatre and design has been carried out in Ƶ in cooperation with Saint Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov.
The project aims at uniting and engaging students in creative and project activities, preserving and reviving the Russian cultural traditions, awakening public interest in the Russian history and culture.
The main goal of the project is to discover the team potential of talented young people by creating a unique atmosphere of synthesis of different arts - opera, design, multimedia, painting and others under the guidance of the experienced project coordinators and mentors who are prominent artists and highly professional teachers.
The youth project teams consist of Russian and international students from various fields of study (opera singing, theatre directing, costume design, applied computer science in design). International intercollegiate and cross-disciplinary teams are working on the concepts of scenes from classical Russian operas of the 19-th century. Staging of a scene includes a student symphony orchestra accompaniment, performance, costumes, and multimedia decorations displayed on a virtual backdrop developed during the project.
Apart from the artistic component, the cultural and educational components of the project include lectures on the history of Russian music and Russian theatre, the historical background of musical works, the origin and history of Russian costumes, and the phenomena of the Russian opera characters. Featured workshops delivered by the leading theatre artists and musicians, thematic excursions to backstage and costume rooms, operas and museums are organized for project participants.
Russian history, opera, fashion, design and multimedia come together and turn into the beginning of a new intercollegiate project, which will definitely become a landmark event in the cultural life of the city and the country.
