  • International Сultural and Humanitarian Intercollegiate Youth Project ‘OPERA & PODIUM’

      Since 2022, a unique creative project that marries music, theatre and design has been carried out in Ƶ in cooperation with Saint Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov.

      The project aims at uniting and engaging students in creative and project activities, preserving and reviving the Russian cultural traditions, awakening public interest in the Russian history and culture.

      The main goal of the project is to discover the team potential of talented young people by creating a unique atmosphere of synthesis of different arts - opera, design, multimedia, painting and others under the guidance of the experienced project coordinators and mentors who are prominent artists and highly professional teachers.

      The youth project teams consist of Russian and international students from various fields of study (opera singing, theatre directing, costume design, applied computer science in design). International intercollegiate and cross-disciplinary teams are working on the concepts of scenes from classical Russian operas of the 19-th century. Staging of a scene includes a student symphony orchestra accompaniment, performance, costumes, and multimedia decorations displayed on a virtual backdrop developed during the project.

      Apart from the artistic component, the cultural and educational components of the project include lectures on the history of Russian music and Russian theatre, the historical background of musical works, the origin and history of Russian costumes, and the phenomena of the Russian opera characters. Featured workshops delivered by the leading theatre artists and musicians, thematic excursions to backstage and costume rooms, operas and museums are organized for project participants.

      Russian history, opera, fashion, design and multimedia come together and turn into the beginning of a new intercollegiate project, which will definitely become a landmark event in the cultural life of the city and the country.

  • Historical and Educational Online project ‘Digital Academy of Russian Choral Art’ supported by the ‘History of the Fatherland’ foundation

      With the mission to promote Russian education and to present Russian culture abroad in cooperation with Saint Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Saint Petersburg State College of Music since 2022 has been carrying out a historical and educational online project based in Ƶ.

      The creative collaboration of IT engineers, designers and musicians resulted in the development of the website with modern design and user-friendly interface that is build on a system of algorithms allowing users to create thematic collections of materials. The website helps students to write essays and academic papers on music. It is also useful for a wide range of choral art fans contributing to their understanding of the considered musical phenomena, its chronological and logical sequence, relation to historical events.

      The new educational Internet resource is a kind of free encyclopaedia that unites into one whole all sides and aspects of the Russian choral singing showing not only the musical and cultural heritage of the country, the genuine Russian ideals, but also promoting an interest in the history not only within our country but also abroad. All these build an idea of Russia as a state, which carefully preserves and studies its traditions. The website resources will be constantly updated and expanded, the number of subscribers will grow, thus the project will remain interesting, informative and new for many years to come.

      Creative master classes, musical evenings and additional educational programmes for both Russian and foreign students and teachers studying in Russia and coming within the international academic mobility programmes are also essential parts of the project.

      The rapid growth and popularity of digital media among young people makes the project undoubtedly significant in terms of the development of international cooperation programmes, contributing to strengthening the role of the Russian language in the modern world and increasing the competitiveness of Russian education.

  • AWARE Project. ‘Against Waste: Activate Research and Education’

      Project duration: 01.04.2020 г. – 30.09.2022 г.

      The project was implemented within the South-East Finland – Russia Cross Boarder Cooperation Programme funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.

      The total budget of the project: 799600 €.

      Project partners: Ƶ, Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University named after S.M. Kirov, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (Finland), Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland).

      Project objectives:

      1. To raise awareness of both serious environmental threats and the economic potential associated with recyclable waste among the citizens of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
      2. To carry out scientific research aimed at choosing and adapting the best European waste management practices and technologies based on the analysis of the situation in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
      3. To promote the development of skills of Russian and Finnish students in finding new business opportunities in the field of waste management and recycling.
      4. To provide advanced training of university lecturers, researchers and other educators with the purpose of promoting education and research in the field of sustainable waste management.
      5. To present the project results to local authorities and business community in order to increase their competences in decision-making and new waste management technologies.
  • International Innovative Project C3E. ‘Contents for Cross-Cultural Events’

      Project duration: 01.12.2018 – 30.11.2021.

      The project was implemented within the South-East Finland – Russia Cross Boarder Cooperation Programme funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.

      The total budget of the project: 751500 €.

      Project partners: Ƶ, Saint Petersburg, the Institute of Cultural Programmes (Saint Petersburg), South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Finland).

      The aim of the project was to develop the innovative management and marketing strategies in the sphere of culture and creative industries in Finland and Russia, as well as to establish partnerships between institutes and organizations of culture and education.

      Under the framework of the project, the analysis of contents of cultural events in Kouvola, Kotka, Mikkeli, Saint Petersburg, and Vyborg was carried out. Cultural events managers, festivals, theatre and competition organizers were invited to join the project and share their experience, practices, and challenges.

      As a result, Finnish and Russian cultural figures exchanged their experience, marketing tools aimed at increasing the attendance and visibility of cultural events in the border area were introduced, and the specialised educational programmes and seminars were developed and delivered to university students and cultural events managers from the partner countries. The international school ‘ProDesign’ was created to provide similar educational and advanced training programmes in the future.

      The project culminated in publishing the collection of research articles and conference papers - ‘Design Dimensions’. It presented the results of the analysis of cases, the developed management and marketing strategies, business models for festivals, competitions, creative industries and cross-cultural events.

  • International Project DIGIFOR. ‘Digital Forest Pedagogy’

      Project duration: 01.11.2018 – 31.10.2021

      The project was implemented within the South-East Finland – Russia Cross Boarder Cooperation Programme funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.

      The total budget of the project: 691499 €.

      The aim of the project DIGIFOR ‘Digital Forest Pedagogy’ was to support the development of skills and competencies in the field of e-learning, to promote international cooperation and to establish closer connections between educational institutions and the forestry sector labour market.

  • International Exhibition of the Best Graduate Projects in Design

      In November 2023, the first joint international exhibition of the best graduate qualification works made by students majoring in design and design-related fields of study was held in Harbin, China. Organised by Heilongjiang Institute of Technology (China) and PROMTECHDESIGN (Ƶ), the event took place in the exhibition hall of the Mingde Building.

      The primary goal of the exhibition is to strengthen the friendly partnership ties between the two universities and to promote the history and culture of the partner countries among the youth.

      For the first exhibition, each university selected its best graduate qualification works, resulting in a total of 75 design projects including 43 works of Ƶ graduates, featuring architectural and urban planning, restoration projects, as well as painting and decorative solutions for building facades, interiors, and exteriors. The selection also included fine art and landscapes paintings, fashion collections, animated films, 3D game locations presented through trailers and visual components. The official bilingual catalogue was published as an outcome of the exhibition.
