The costumes of Dorabella and Fiordilij from the opera "Everyone Does This" by the students of the Engineering Clothing (College) of St. Petersburg State Pedagogical Institute Ekaterina Egorova and Victoria Reshetnikova are the winners of the "Costume Design" nomination of the IV season of the international intercollegiate project "OPERA&PODIUM."

Young designers received special prizes from the Pushkin Foundation - the opportunity to present their work at the Red Square book festival in Moscow and on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater.
In the work, the girls used costume fabrics, silk, organza, jacquard, supplemented them with lace and fatin. Textured contrasts were also applied. Catherine and Victoria paid special attention to the fittings and decoration, which emphasized the status of the heroines.

"Our costumes are a symbiosis of theatrical drama and fashion. When creating the image, we were inspired by the ladies of the 18th century and sought to convey not just the visual aesthetics, but the character and inner state of the character. We wanted the costume to work on stage, combining the surroundings of the era and a modern reading," the costume authors shared.

In the process of creation, and this is more than six months of work, the students had to master the work with the application, the ability to sew decorative elements of edging, ribbons, beads. They also interacted with the form: they created corsets, improved crinoline, laid draperies by incandescence.
Each detail, according to the authors, was modified after fittings. All this in order to achieve the desired landing and a harmonious visual effect in stage lighting.
