Artists and designers discussed the problems of monumental art at Ƶ

The annual international conference "Actual Problems of Monumental Art" was held at the University of Industrial Technologies and Design. It brought together researchers, art historians, teachers, practicing artists and designers from Russia and abroad. The exhibition-competition "Creative Spring. We are together — we are united!", dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

This year's conference is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Leningrad artist and teacher Yevsey Moiseenko (1916-1988). In his work, the master touched upon the problems of artistic, ethical and philosophical plans. The purpose of the event is to study and comprehend the legacy of the painter. According to the first Vice-rector, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design Alexander Rudin, the conference has authority. This is confirmed by the published volume of works and numerous participants from Azerbaijan, Moldova, Syria and other countries.

"Every year we dedicate a conference to outstanding craftsmen of the 20th century. This year, it is impossible to ignore the creativity and anniversary of Yevsey Yevseevich. Our task is to instill artistic taste, maintain the unity of people through creativity and educate the younger generation with the help of high—quality art. It is also important to ensure that the glorious names of the figures are not forgotten," said Daria Antipina, Head of the Department of Monumental Art at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.

A tradition has been formed to dedicate the conference to outstanding people. At the plenary session and the section "Problems of pedagogy and methods of teaching art disciplines", experts from St. Petersburg spoke about the activities of Yevsey Moiseenko and his students. The speakers also highlighted the role of traditions, innovations and pedagogy in monumental art, the restoration and reconstruction of cultural heritage monuments, and the interaction between the artist and the customer. The section "Traditions and Innovations in Monumental Art" was attended by speakers from China. Teachers of St. Petersburg art universities and art historians from different cities of Russia at the round table "Monumentalists of Russia. The influence of the Leningrad and St. Petersburg academic schools on the monumental art of Russia" exchanged experiences on the protection, restoration and reconstruction of monuments. As part of the conference, the opening of the international exhibition and competition "Creative Spring. We are together — we are united!", which was attended by professionals and young artists. In their works, the authors revealed the tradition of interethnic communication in the cultural and creative sphere.

In their opinion, it contributes to the spiritual enrichment of the peoples of Russia and helps to develop national identity. Musical compositions performed by a special guest of the event, accordionist Alexei Protasov, were performed at the opening.

Also, master classes from experts of the Department of Monumental Art of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design were held for the conference participants.

Sergey Khvalov demonstrated the technique of creating stained glass windows. Irina Baranova spoke about the properties of mosaic composition. Maria Dokuchaeva explained the principles of creating textile jewelry. Maria Davydova conducted an enamel lesson.
