Irina Igorevna's research area included the creation of chemical fibers for medical and technical purposes with targeted biological activity, as well as studies of chemical modification of fibers that allow changing the nature of fiber interaction with microorganisms. These studies formed the basis of Irina Igorevna's doctoral thesis, which she defended in 1995. In March 1996, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, and in May 2002 she was awarded the academic title of professor.
The development and research of textile medical and biologically active materials, as well as the applied use of enzymes and microorganisms in chemical fiber technology, allowed her to create new textile materials for industry and medicine. The results of Irina Shamolina's research work have been implemented not only in industry, but also in large medical centers.: Vreden Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Odessa Research Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy, etc. Among the many implemented works, the following stand out:
— giving antimicrobial properties to textiles;
— anti-putrefaction and water-repellent silk treatment;
— introduction of a new nutrient medium for the diagnosis of anaerobic bacteria;
— the use of biologically active fibers in ophthalmological practice;
— fibers for immobilization of microbes and enzymes.
Irina Igorevna was awarded a medal and a prize from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR, as well as a silver medal from VDNH, for her complex research work.
Since 1993, Irina Igorevna began to work in parallel with scientific work as a teacher at the Department of Chemical Production Processes and Devices (now the Department of Engineering Chemistry and Industrial Ecology of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design), where she became a leading specialist in the field of biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, and the production and processing of bioactive fibrous materials. During this period, Irina Igorevna actively interacted with scientific organizations such as CJSC Ecoprom, the V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the PTC Analytik Ecological Laboratory, IVS RAS, NITSEB RAS, etc.
Professor Irina Shamolina is the author of more than 300 published scientific papers, including about 50 copyright certificates and patents for inventions. Irina Igorevna's biography is presented in the Encyclopedic Biographical Dictionary Golden Fund of St. Petersburg Professionals in the field of education and science, published in 2011. In 2019, Professor Irina Igorevna Shamolina was awarded the title of Honored Professor of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design for her achievements in scientific and pedagogical activities.
Evgenia Zlatorunskaya.
Leading Professor of the Department of Management of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (formerly the Department of Organization, Planning and Production Management).
In 2015, Evgenia Nikolaevna celebrated her 90th birthday and 62 years of scientific and pedagogical activity at our university.
Evgenia Nikolaevna was born on May 20, 1925 in Grozny, Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Republic, into a family of railroad workers.
