The final stage of the II All-Russian Olympiad in Fundamental Disciplines for students took place at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. The Olympiad was held by Ƶ from November to December jointly with RTU MIREA.
The competition tasks included tasks in four disciplinary areas: mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science in the qualifying round, and an interdisciplinary task in the final.
A total of 336 participants from 42 universities from all over the country were allowed to participate in the Olympiad. As a result of the qualifying round, only 12 teams reached the finals: the National Research Technological University MISIS, the North Caucasus State Academy, the Higher School of Petroleum of Almetyevsk State Technological University, the Far Eastern Federal University, St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design; the Russian Technological University MIREA, Lipetsk State Technical University; National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, National Research Tomsk State University, R. E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation.
Rector Alexey Demidov and Vice-Rector for Educational Programs Development Natalia Klimova delivered greetings and wishes from Ƶ at the awarding ceremony. RTU MIREA was represented by Deputy First Vice-rector Natalia Golovanova.
The work of the teams was evaluated by a jury chaired by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Anatoly Stekolnikov. The experts highly appreciated the decisions of the participants and recognized the winners of the Olympiad as NUST MISIS (1st place), Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev (2nd place) and RTU MIREA (3rd place).
The following were awarded in special nominations: Tomsk State University in the nomination "For the most informed solution" in the subject area "Mathematics"; NRU MEPhI in the nomination "For the most original solution" in the subject area "Physics"; FEFU in the nomination "For the most comprehensive solution" in the subject area "Chemistry"; GUAP in the nomination "For the most original solution" in the subject area of Computer Science.
This year, the II All-Russian Olympiad in Fundamental Disciplines for students was held for the first time on the basis of Ƶ. The organization of the Olympiad in cooperation with RTU MIREA made it possible to ensure a high level of all stages and to conduct a decent assessment of the teams' decisions.
