The school stage of the All-Russian interdisciplinary competition "Techno-challenge: Engineers of the Future" was held at the Engineering and Technology School No. 777 in St. Petersburg.
Representatives of the university joined the jury and evaluated the work of the participants in the field of "Fashion and Design" for two age categories (grades 6-7 and 8-10).
The expert commission from our university includes:
- Kolupaeva Alyona Vyacheslavovna — Head of the Department of Educational Projects of the Office of Technological Leadership.
- Vera Koroleva is a teacher at the Clothing Engineering School.
- Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Kriventseva is an assistant professor at the Costume Design Department.
The competitive tasks developed by the specialists of the Small Academy of Fashion Technology of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design were aimed not only at testing artistic skills. Their main goal is to reveal the system engineering thinking of schoolchildren.
In 3 hours, the teams had to analyze a given style of clothing, develop sketches of the collection, select fabrics, perform constructive modeling of the product, correlate technological operations with the nodes of the product.
All this way — from the concept to the construction of patterns — required well-coordinated teamwork, role allocation and an understanding of the full cycle of clothing creation. The stage ended with the defense of projects before the jury.
Techno-Challenge is a great opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the professions of a designer, constructor and technologist, to show their talents and receive an assessment from practicing specialists.
