Ƶ students at PROMTECHDESIGN ENGLISH CAMP
30 September

Teachers and the best students of the Department of Foreign Languages in Professional Sphere of Ƶ conducted an intensive field visit at the university's suburban base in Streltsovo. Two days of full immersion in the English-speaking environment allowed us to bring the skills of public speaking in English to a new level.

The educational program was devoted to the formation of public speaking skills according to international standards. The entire learning process, from master classes to discussions, was conducted exclusively in English. This format allowed the participants to learn how to articulate thoughts clearly, hold the audience's attention and overcome excitement, which allowed them to achieve significant results by the end of the intensive.

Only the best students were able to take part in the departure — those who scored more than 85 points in the scoring system last semester and speak English at least B1.

The master classes were conducted by leading teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages in the professional activity of Ƶ. The lesson on the basics of public speaking in English was conducted by Anna Mokrousova, an assistant at the department, Dmitry Balashov, an assistant in pronunciation, Anastasia Turskova, an assistant in academic standards and requirements for public speaking in English, and a master class "The Art of Questions: how to ask and answer uncomfortable questions correctly" - assistant Vladislav Koselovsky, "The influence of posture and appearance on the result of public speaking" - Associate Professor Anna Mishchenko, senior lecturer Olga Egorova taught stress management methods during public speaking, and Associate Professor of Technical Translation and Professional Communications Yulia Olkhovikova taught meditative practices in preparation for public speaking.

Here's what the students themselves told after the professional congress:

"After the camp, my English itself became much better, it became easier to relate to performances, and fear disappeared. I really liked the way the teachers organized everything, the atmosphere they created, it was very nice to receive gifts, and most importantly, the experience."

"I began to understand the structure of the speeches, the excitement disappeared, and in general it became clear what a normal speech in English should look like. I especially remember the workshops on voice production and stress management. Thank you very much for such a visit, for the great contribution of the teachers to the atmosphere and content of every day, a very nice and valuable moment with the organization of the evening for us, as well as with the award for completing the program. I've been able to feel freedom in English these days."

"The atmosphere in the camp was calm, but at the same time encouraging, without any pressure. In addition to the master classes, the teachers sent useful materials and videos. I especially appreciate the high level of teachers and the willingness to share various additional materials. I used to be convinced that I was making so many grammatical mistakes due to lack of practice that my speech was barely understandable, but the audience and the opportunity to speak in front of them showed me that this was not the case. Now I can be completely confident in my conversational skills and take more initiative in such situations."

The next intensive field trip will be held in May. If you need to quickly improve your English, for the department's courses and study with leading teachers face-to-face or online.
