The tour began at the Museum and Memorial complex "Breaking the Siege of Leningrad", from where the group set off along the route that during the Great Patriotic War became the only link between the besieged city and the country.
The students were reminded of the significance of the feat of the inhabitants of the besieged city. The Rubezhny Kamen memorial on Nevsky Pyatachka also became a significant point of the route. It perpetuates the memory of the defensive battles on Nevsky Pyatachok, the site of fierce fighting liberated by the Soviet troops of the Leningrad Front on the left bank of the Neva River.
After that, the tour went to the memorial "The meeting place of the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts." This historical site is located in the place where the troops of the two Soviet fronts joined forces to liberate Leningrad from an almost nine hundred-day blockade, providing the city with a land connection to the mainland.
The final point of the route was the Sinyavinsky Heights Memorial, a place where fierce and bloody battles for breaking the siege of Leningrad took place in 1943.
The tour made a strong impression on each of its participants — it vividly showed one of the most tragic events in the history of Russia and demonstrated how important it is to preserve the memory of our past.
The trip was organized by the Department of Educational Work of Ƶ and the STUDENT PRESS of Ƶ.
