Artificial intelligence in foreign language teaching: a new program was conducted at Ƶ
27 August

The Department of Foreign Languages in Professional Activity of Ƶ has launched training under the advanced training program "Artificial Intelligence Tools for foreign language teachers". The participants mastered the most advanced services based on neural network models and discussed the challenges associated with the development of generative artificial intelligence.

The teachers of foreign languages of the educational complex of the PROMTECHDESIGN University were trained. The speakers were Olga Akimova, Associate Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Alexandra Bordunos, Head of the AI Lab at St. Petersburg State University. The academic supervisors are Ksenia Kaisheva, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages in Professional Activities at St. Petersburg State University and Anna Mishchenko, Associate Professor of the Department.

As a result of the program, an agreement was reached on the development of policy principles in the field of generative artificial intelligence within the framework of the implemented disciplines, methodological recommendations for teachers on the use of tools based on neural network models and work on a number of joint scientific publications. The professional development program for teachers is being implemented for the second time and is becoming a platform for the exchange of experience, co-creation and professional development.

"The rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies not only challenges traditional forms of control and evaluation, but also opens up new opportunities. Modern neural network solutions make it possible to gamify learning, introduce more exciting lesson formats, and significantly facilitate pedagogical work. At each stage of designing a discipline or class, digital tools can be used to make the educational process flexible, manageable, and as efficient as possible. The program was dedicated to these opportunities," comments Ksenia Kaisheva, Head of the program and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages in Professional Activities at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.
