Ekaterina Panova, a student of the specialty "" at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, presented the University at the Vologda Youth Folklore Forum.Folk." Ekaterina is working on her collection of textile accessories with authentic embroidery, and at the event, the student conducted a master class on the art of artistic embroidery for the guests of the forum.

At the master class, Ekaterina showed some decorative seams and their application options. Each participant took away a shopper with his own embroidery as a souvenir.

At the forum, Ekaterina also managed to communicate with ethnographers, anthropologists, historians, designers and ethnomusicologists.

"Most of all, I remember my meetings with ethnomusicologist Nina Vagaytseva and vocalists Vera Bazilevsky and Valentina Nesterova, with whom we talked about projects in the field of folk culture, discussed real folklore and forms of stylization, as well as the promotion of folk culture through social networks. But the most valuable conversation was with Varvara Zenina, a designer and ethnoculturologist, founder of the Varvara Zenina brand and the Zarya design laboratory. She gave a very detailed guide on launching her clothing brand.: how to work with sources, how to analyze the market, and work with the target audience. My dream is to launch my own brand of clothing with ethnic motifs and I will definitely use Varvara's advice," says Ekaterina Panova, a student at St. Petersburg State Pedagogical University.

In addition, during the main event of the forum, the festival at the Semenkovo open—air Architectural and Ethnographic Museum, the student attended master classes on Vologda lace technology and machine weaving. It will also help the girl in working on her own brand, in which she plans to use ethnographic samples and stylize them for modernity.

"Today, the search for their own identity is very relevant for young people due to the loss of national characteristics against the background of globalization. Turning to native culture and rethinking national heritage help solve this problem, and instead of abandoning traditions, we actively integrate their elements into everyday style. Modern brands and designers are increasingly using Russian cultural motifs in their products, harmoniously combining them with fashion trends. Young people not only preserve their heritage, but also adapt it to our realities," says Ekaterina.
