Daria Nifakina, a graduate student in Fashion Tech at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (Department of Digital and Additive Technologies), has developed a collection of digital clothing for the heroine of her author's game project "Lily's Adventure".
"I have developed a third—person action adventure game for computers and mobile phones based on the Unreal Engine 5. The main character played by the user is a young flower fairy. She needs to pass a test to get her first wings and learn how to fly. The action takes place in a fantasy stylized world of flower fairies, full of a wide variety of flowers, which are tended by fairies and which support the magical power of the world. Exploring the world, the heroine will have to perform new tasks, collect resources to gain new abilities, outfits, wings," says Daria Nifakina, a student at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.
For her author's game project "Lily's Adventure," Daria has developed a game location and a concept for Lily's character. The main feature of the game is the ability to dress up the heroine in different outfits. To do this, the student created a personalized collection of digital clothing, the purpose of which is to increase user engagement in the game.
When creating the collection, the author relied on the logic of visual combination. The collection includes five tops and five skirts, one pair of trousers, one T-shirt and two dresses. When designing the basic elements of clothing, the principle of mutual compatibility was taken into account: tops, skirts, trousers and a T-shirt are designed in such a way that each of them harmoniously combines with each other.
After completing the project, Daria organized user testing for the target audience, that is, girls aged 7-11 and their parents.
"The results of the survey I conducted after testing the game showed that more than 90% of the target audience likes to play games with character disguises. About 70% of the girls liked Lily's character and her clothes. In addition, 90% of their parents believe that the game develops thinking, and are ready to recommend "Lily's Adventure" to other parents," adds Daria.
