The Book and Graphics Center hosted a public defense of diploma projects of the Department of Graphics of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ. The presentation of diploma projects took place on a multimedia screen, and all original illustrations, layouts and projects were presented to the demanding commission of the State Examination Committee. As always, the works were noted for a wide variety of genres: book publications, computer and board games, graphic design.
The greatest interest was aroused by the works of Daria Vishnyakova, Victoria Kovachevich and Ekaterina Solovyova, which reflected the main directions of book and graphic design, supported by professional proficiency in computer technologies.
Excellent mastery of graphic techniques and lively, skillful drawing of figurative compositions allowed Daria Vishnyakova to present a new solution for the publication of Carlo Gozzi's classic play "The Love for Three Oranges". The beautifully worked out rubrication of the book layout, the beautiful color scheme of the illustration cycle and the modern interpretation of the Renaissance characters of the play in the style of commedia dell'arte reflected the possibility of a conceptual approach to the artistic design of publishing projects.
The book opens like a window into a bright, funny and touching Italy, takes the reader into its unusual colorful world, includes him in a cheerful crowd enjoying the performance on a hot southern square.
A book is a traditional, undying art. But the modern world creates new tools, new ways of creating and distributing artistic images and solutions. With the emergence of the digital environment, visual language is no longer limited by traditional means of work. Digital art also needs new ways of demonstrating to the viewer. Festivals often become such a space. Nowadays, a festival is a notable cultural event, a localization of innovative artistic practices. A reflection of this trend in graphic design was the bright and very professional diploma work of Victoria Kovachevich, who designed the festival "Art Innovation" or "artificial intelligence", which is translated from English as "artificial intelligence".
The exhibition area is a product of the synthesis of visual language and multimedia technologies, installations are created using new tools: a canvas with backlighting, projections, video sequence. This kind of modern task is not just a source of inspiration for a future designer, but a powerful tool for developing skills, expanding horizons and adapting to current trends.
Next to the latest graphic solutions, familiar forms and meanings also find a place. The board game "Three Ways" is offered by its author, Ekaterina Solovieva, for family leisure. The game is dedicated to the routes of the Golden Ring of Russia, namely: Uglich, Yaroslavl and Kostroma. The project is very relevant in our time, marked not only by the revival of interest in traditional forms of entertainment, but also by the active development of domestic tourism in Russia.
Moving from city to city, accompanied by a whole crowd of cute game characters, you can learn a lot of new things and enjoy the discoveries encountered along the way. It is no coincidence that Ekaterina Solovieva's project was proposed for its practical implementation by a member of the commission, director of the Book and Graphics Center Alexander Strokin.
