A park has been landscaped in the historical part of St. Petersburg according to a project developed by students of the Institute of Spatial Environment Design at Ƶ. The square was opened at the intersection of Nekrasov and Mayakovsky Streets near gymnasium No. 171. The initiators were local residents who contacted the administration, who eventually were involved in discussing the concept along with gymnasium students.
The green corner at the intersection of Nekrasov and Mayakovsky streets is known to many Petersburgers. It covers an area of over 1,000 square meters. The complete landscaping took 41 days. Students of the University of Industrial Technology and Design developed a concept in which the territory of the park was divided into zones for children's entertainment and adult recreation, new children's play equipment, benches with urns were installed, and firs, willows, pines, forsythias and spiraea were planted. Anastasia Kiseleva, a lecturer at the Department of Spatial Environment Design at Ƶ, served as the project manager.
Sergey Petrichenko, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Improvement Committee, noted that this is the first public garden to be landscaped this year under the program "Creating a comfortable Urban Environment."
