On 9 May 2025 we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
The Great Patriotic War and the Second World War became an unprecedented tragedy in the history of mankind, bringing incalculable victims and destruction, bringing human civilization itself to the brink of destruction. Our ancestors, having overcome unimaginable trials, showed courage and heroism, saving not only their homeland, but all of humanity from the carriers of Nazi ideology, which denies humanity itself.
For the peoples of our country, occupied countries of Europe, prisoners of concentration camps, the victory of 1945 was a true liberation, a revival of the very right to life.
The Leningrad Textile Institute (Ƶ) made its contribution to the Victory: it sent volunteers to the front, stood up in defence of Leningrad, continued to train personnel and contributed to the development of new technologies for military purposes.
In our country, the Great Patriotic War has become a personal experience for every family, every person. It is from such experiences, which have become family history, that a person's involvement in the history of his or her native country is formed.
It is the duty of each of us to preserve the historical memory of the tragic and heroic pages of history, not to forget the great feat of our people, to keep gratitude for the Victory in our hearts.
And today we pay tribute and memory to all those who in those harsh years gave their strength and lives for the freedom and independence of our Motherland in the fight against fascism.
I congratulate veterans, staff, teachers, and all students of our university on the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War!
I wish for peace, happiness, prosperity, new discoveries, success in studies and labour for the benefit of our Motherland - Russia!
