HSTE Ƶ student projects were highly appreciated by experts in the pulp and paper industry
30 April

The St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design hosted the "Innovation Week". The participants were offered five business cases provided by partner companies: Svetogorsky CBK, Karelia Pulp LLC, First Bit LLC, and ArtLab Information Center. Special attention was paid to improving production efficiency: Three of the five cases are related to the recycling of pulp and paper industry waste. This highlights the importance of sustainable development and the search for innovative solutions in the industry.

Students of Ƶ of various specialties — technologists, environmentalists, economists, thermal power engineers — had to join teams and propose solutions to the urgent task of recycling industrial waste. Over the course of five days, the competing teams conducted experiments and applied various technologies, calculated approximate costs and benefits, and at the end of the week presented their projects to the experts. As a result, the participants were awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes.

Eighty-five students took part in the "Innovation Week" this year, including the Higher School of Technology and Energy of SPbGUPTD. The purpose of the event is to familiarize future specialists with production, with current tasks, the opportunity to take master classes from the company's experts, prove themselves and find a job in the future.

"Our company has been participating in the Innovation Week at SPbGUPTD for several years. We consider this event to be very useful both for students and for us. We are trying to prepare interesting tasks: last year there was a case from the Department of Ecology, this year from the Department of Pulp. The teams needed to find ways to efficiently recycle waste from the production of chemically deposited chalk. We thank the guys for analyzing the information in detail, coming up with their hearts and interest in finding solutions."

Tatiana Filyuta, Head of the Department of Training and Development at NPAO Svetogorsky CBK

"We have been cooperating with Svetogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill for many years and thank the company for its openness and high expertise, which employees are ready to share. I am pleased to note that students are always very enthusiastic about participating in Innovation Week, gaining experience in solving business cases, seeing how modern production works, and being able to apply their knowledge."
