Cardboard against plastic: DUKE'S Home Wonders packaging is being tested at the Ƶ
08 April

DUKE'S Home Wonders has sent samples of cardboard packaging of its products to the scientific testing laboratory of biodegradable Materials at the Ƶ. During the research, the physico-mechanical parameters of the brand's commercial cardboard packaging will be determined. The research takes place using unique equipment at the Department of Automation of Technological Processes and Productions of Ƶ.

As part of the Priority 2030 program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the scientific and educational center "Scientific Testing Laboratory of Biodegradable Materials" was opened at the Higher School of Technology and Energy of the Ƶ. The equipment for the laboratory was provided by ORBIS, which is a partner of the university in educational and scientific activities. In the new educational and scientific center, university scientists are testing the latest quality control devices for paper, cardboard and packaging materials, as well as interacting with enterprises in the field of independent product expertise.

"Everyone knows that cardboard is more environmentally friendly than plastic due to its biodegradability and renewability. It is also worth noting the compactness and low weight of cardboard packaging, which reduces logistical costs and environmental impact. However, I often encounter the objection that plastic is more reliable and stronger than cardboard. In our study, we want to prove that cardboard is a decent, promising material that has strength characteristics comparable to plastic, which allows it to be used as an alternative to packaging made of various types of plastic. Of course, such packaging is suitable for the dehydrated formulations that we produce and actively promote as an optimal alternative to traditional liquid formulations. The partnership with the quality control laboratory in the pulp and paper industry of the Ƶ, opened with the support of Orbis, opens up great prospects for our research and provides an evidence base when choosing packaging. And we hope that our active collaboration will eventually lead to the development of the pulp and paper industry in Russia."
