An exhibition of paintings by Junior Sergeant Yuri Sivachev, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a participant in a special military operation, a combat veteran, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, has opened at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. His wife, as well as the parents and son of the participant of the exhibition, whose portrait is on display, attended the opening of the exhibition in the lobby of the main building of the university at Bolshaya Morskaya, 18.

Yuri Sivachev is a graduate of the Fedoskin Art and Industrial College of Miniature Painting and the Moscow State Regional University named after N. K. Krupskaya, a teacher at the Stroganov Moscow State Art Academy, a portrait painting course and the Rostov Art College named after M. B. Grekov. He has held a number of national and international exhibitions.

In 2022, he was mobilized with the rank of junior sergeant, then enlisted in the First front-line creative brigade, created on the basis of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Leningrad Military District.

During the Great Patriotic War, more than 2,000 creative teams were created, and about 900 artists were drafted into the army and navy, who not only fought with weapons in their hands, but also painted paintings and made sketches from nature, which later became the basis of full-scale canvases. Subsequently, these works also became a documentary chronicle of that heroic era.

Junior Sergeant Sivachev has a similar task. His paintings are a kind of chronicle of a special military operation, on the pages of which the heroes of our time forge a long—awaited victory.

As part of the first front-line creative team, the artist toured front-line zones, village clubs, dugouts and dugouts, hospitals and new Russian regions. Yuri got acquainted with the stories and fates of military personnel during quick sketches. Based on the collected material, the artist created full-scale canvases dedicated to the events of his life.

Yuri Sivachev's project "Heroes of our Time" is a unique collection of portraits of military personnel, sketches of everyday life, sketches and sketches from nature, made directly in the area of a special military operation.

During his service, Yuri was awarded the medals of the Russian Ministry of Defense "Artist of the Greeks" and "For Military Valor" of the II degree, the medal of the Russian Academy of Arts "Worthy" for a series of portraits of heroes-soldiers of his military district "Kherson. Drawings from the trenches" and the medal of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia for their contribution to the national fine arts.

In 2024, by the decision of the Academy's Presidium, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Currently, the artist actively assists in solving the tasks assigned to the armed forces of the Russian Federation. He presents his works in state museums and at exhibition sites in our country, participates in projects of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation aimed at perpetuating the memory of the heroes of the SVR, civil-patriotic and spiritual-moral education of youth.

The artist has held traveling exhibitions in the Zaporizhia, Kherson regions and the Lugansk People's Republic. On February 23, 2023, in Moscow, in the lobby of the Russian Army Theater, a series of portraits made from life in the free zone were presented. In August of the same year, a personal exhibition was opened in the House of Officers of the Western Military District. Another full-scale personal exhibition was exhibited at the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering Troops and Communications Troops. In 2024, at the initiative of the Kaliningrad Regional Museum of History and Art, another personal exhibition of the works "Heroes of Our Time" was organized in Kaliningrad.

Then the opening of the personal exhibition "Heroes of Our Time" took place at the Peter the Great Central Naval Museum. Personal exhibitions were also organized in Vyborg, Vsevolozhsk, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky. Sivachev's works participated in group exhibitions dedicated to his military career: at the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, at the Mariinsky Palace of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, in the Atrium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as part of the Days of Army Culture in the Government Building of the Leningrad Region, at the Headquarters of the Leningrad Military District.
