03 January

Konstantin Davletov, a student of the Department of Digital and Additive Technologies of Ƶ, has developed a 3D installation based on illustrations by artist Nika Klotsky for projection in the form of a light show “The Story of Christmas” on the Kronstadt Sea Cathedral. The project was initiated by the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee.

From December 21, 2024 to January 08, 2025 on the Anchor Square in Kronstadt it will be possible to enjoy the Christmas light show - the work of light artists and projectors. The facade of the St. Nicholas Cathedral became the stage for the original installations. The unique light show brings to life key events from the Christmas story.

3D projections for the Sea Cathedral were developed by Konstantin Davletov, a student of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design, who works in the IT company PushKeen, where he creates websites, games, graphics and video content. The light show lasts a minute and a half and includes several scenes from the history of Christmas: the appearance of the Star of Bethlehem, the departure of the Magi, the census and Micah's prophecies, the appearance of the Angel with glad tidings, the offering of gifts by the Magi, and the singing of the Angels praising the Almighty in the finale.

A student from Ƶ worked on the concept and illustrations by street artist Nika Klotsky, who paints in the Orthodox style. Together with Leonid Valdaev, a graduate of the Sretensky Theological Seminary and a specialist in Orthodox design, they worked on watercolor ideas for the light show. The project team also included several artists of various disciplines, including participants of international light art festivals.
