The International Design Forum "Space and Object in Design" has completed its work at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. It was established by the Institute of Spatial Environment Design of Ƶ and this year is dedicated to the fifteenth anniversary of the institute. The forum included a scientific conference, an exhibition of students' works, as well as a round table in memory of the founders of the institute, architects Boris Ustinov and Lyudmila Feshina.


The V International Scientific and Practical Conference "Design and Artistic Creativity: theory, methodology and practice" brought together designers, architects, artists, art historians, cultural scientists, teachers of higher educational institutions, heads and employees of design studios, graduate students and students and young scientists. The conference was chaired by honored figures in the field of design and architecture, associate professors of the Department of Interior Design and Equipment of Ƶ: Tatyana Anisimova — member of the Union of Designers of Russia, member of the Russian Association of Researchers of Canada; Evgeny Lobanov is a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Designers, an Honorary member of the International Academy of Modern Arts; Director of the Institute of Spatial Environment Design Ƶ Julia Vetrova.


The reports were devoted to innovative teaching methods, academic and modern forms of artistic training of a designer, criteria of professional competence of a designer and features of the modern design market in design, quality of interior spaces, problems of globalization and national identity in interior design, the use of artificial intelligence in projects, the latest trends in domestic and foreign industrial design, as well as parallels, intersections, collisions design and artistic creation, the boundaries of art and the limitlessness of design in the modern digital world and the ethics of using AI in design.


The report by Marfa Polyakova, representing the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Bretagne Higher School of Architecture in France, was devoted to the implementation of pavilion projects for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 by students of architectural schools in France. A young Indian artist Tonka Mahesh Gurjar made a presentation on the art of Rajasthan. He spoke about the folk deities of India, the essence of the images of Lord Devnarayan, Vira Tejaji and Fada.
During the conference, an exhibition and competition of students' art and design works was organized in the university space "Boiling Point — PromTechDesign". 250 applications were submitted for participation. About 180 works on painting, graphics and design from Belarus, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, China, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan passed the qualifying stage.
The design forum ended with a round table, which focused on the architectural and design school of professors Lyudmila Feshina and Boris Ustinov. The discussion of the creative heritage of the founders of the Institute of Spatial Environment Design of Ƶ and its significance for the theory and practice of architectural design was attended by their students, employees of the Institute, those who worked with them and under their guidance on projects and scientific publications: architects Vladimir Chaly (Great Britain), Igor Gotz (Spain), Anton Novozhilov (Russia), Yuri Shipulin (Germany), designers Alla Katanovich (Russia), Lukiya Sokolova (Russia), Polina Fomina (Russia), Polina Patsyuk (France), design teacher at Ƶ Sergey Shvedov (Russia) and others.


The dialogue was dedicated to man and his relationship with society and the environment, because through the organization of space, architects and designers design the very way of life of people, hence their huge responsibility to society.
