Special attention was paid at the plenary session of the conference to the topic of moral values in the university education of journalists. The participants of the discussion considered the role of social networks and artificial intelligence in teaching, traditional methods and innovative approaches in journalistic education.

"New technologies are rapidly being integrated into the production processes of the media, which requires constant updating of training programs for journalists. The main principle of the work of the Higher School of Press and Media Technologies of St. Petersburg State University for the Training of Journalists is based on the preservation of the traditions of classical journalistic education, taking into account the new realities of the media environment. Every year, discussing the issues of training journalists with the professional and scientific community of Russia and St. Petersburg within the framework of our conference, we understand that, despite any technical changes, modern journalism must maintain its main mission of serving society."

Natalia Lezunova, Director of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ

One of the events of the conference "Modern Media in the context of information technology" was the speeches of Russian and foreign students on the topic of a new look at journalism of the XXI century. The presentations were divided into two sections "Electronic media: formation, development, trends" and "Socio-cultural and linguistic issues of the media".

The topics of AI in the media and the work of a journalist in the context of the active development of social media caused an active discussion. Young journalists presented the results of an analysis of the state of Russian fashion journalism, communication in small media, methods of forming public opinion in the media, promoting the concept of animal rights protection, presented author's short-format videos and objects of video game journalism, highlighted the prospects for brand promotion in social networks, the work of a journalist in the context of media demassification, raised linguistic and stylistic issues and topics of the influence of neural networks on journalism.

"We are building the training of future journalists primarily on educating them with a sense of belonging and civic responsibility. In addition, in the conditions of an information explosion and chaos, a journalist must have a broad outlook and almost encyclopedic knowledge in order to create high-quality and unique content, and not just another informational "fast food" and random fakes. The humanitarian orientation of university education makes it possible to prepare a specialist according to the challenges of the journalistic profession and the time."

Natalia Lezunova, Director of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ

As part of the conference, an exhibition of student projects of the Department of Journalism and Media Technologies of the Promtech Design University entitled "From idea to layout" was opened in the lobby of the main building of Ƶ. The works are devoted to the development of the concept and creation of the layout of the magazine. The authors searched for the topic of the project themselves, the main condition is that it should be interesting to potential readers.

The interests of the authors of the projects are diverse: forms and genres of contemporary art and their overlap with the artistic tradition; St. Petersburg — old and new, Russian and European; sports, exciting events of student life; attempts to comprehend new cultural phenomena and communication, for which there are no traditional analogues. Each project is represented by a consecutive row of covers of twelve issues of the magazine. Creating a cover is a difficult job. The name of the magazine should turn into an expressive graphic image, and the compositional solution should correspond to the concept of the publication. Twelve covers, following each other from month to month, echo each other, obeying their special drama that unites them, while the absence of direct repetitions is important.

The Department of Journalism of Ƶ welcomes the search for fresh, modern visual solutions, the ability to create a special intellectual atmosphere, as well as non-trivial, thoughtful, relevant concepts of magazine publications that would fully correspond to the realities of the modern media market.
