Ƶ congratulates teachers on the Day of the Higher School Teacher
19 November

Today in Russia is celebrated the holiday of mentors, teachers who inspire students to learn and conquer professional and scientific peaks - the Day of Higher School Teacher. In connection with this event Rector of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design Alexey Vyacheslavovich Demidov addressed to the teachers of the university with heartfelt congratulations.

On the eve of the holiday we asked the teachers of Ƶ to share the secrets of their profession and love for their work. We give them the floor.

Maria Sergeevna Fedder, Associate Professor of the Department of Polygraphic Production Technology of Ƶ, said:

“The teaching profession is a collective wisdom. One of the greatest entrepreneurs of the 20th century, K. Matsushita, believed that everyone's ideas, skills, and knowledge create a reservoir of wisdom that forms a high moral level and effective teamwork, supported by each participant.

The deeper you begin to understand others, the more you begin to appreciate them, the more respect you have for them. Touching another person's soul is like treading on sacred ground,” writes Stephen Covey. For me, the teaching profession is about creating value in every student.

From Carlos Castaneda's perspective, “magic is the application of the will to a key link.” A teacher creates an environment so that his student, like a magician, can find the key link in what he intends to influence and influence it with his will. For me, the teaching profession is magic".

Olga Aleksandrovna Alekseeva, Associate Professor of Brand Communication and Management Department of Ƶ:

“Working with students for me is creating a trusting environment for the subsequent intellectual assault of intractable and very different young talents. I am not a mentor in the classroom, but, first of all, an attentive mentor and friend.

Unfortunately, we do not always have enough time for socializing. That is why practical classes turn into exciting quests: from visiting vernissages to searching for dragons on palace facades.

How do I know I'm doing it right? The sincere reciprocal support and gratitude of students is the main censor of my work!”

Nikolai Anatolievich Lapatin, Associate Professor of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry at Ƶ:

“Teaching is not about imposing one's opinion on others, but the art of “igniting” the minds of others by imparting knowledge and skills gained from experience. There are times when it is hard to teach, but it is our duty to create all the conditions for learning..... And maybe even just to inspire! Every year new students come to me, but this year is like a new chapter of a book that we write ourselves.”

Ekaterina Yuryevna Shaina, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Theory of Art, Ƶ:

“Perhaps the secret of the teaching profession is to always be on the move and searching for relevant information, unusual forms of presenting material, creative assignments, interesting ideas for realization. The basis of movement is passion for what you do, constant interest and indifference, and then the reciprocal initiatives of students delight, inspire and keep in tone. And sometimes I also want to be a bit of a magician, who easily and entertainingly gives students knowledge, and they stay with them for many years. But this is something I'm still learning...”

Galina Illarionovna Legezina, associate professor of the Department of Engineering Materials Science and Metrology at Ƶ:

“A good teacher is a specialist who has both theoretical and practical skills in the discipline being taught, and thus can serve as an example for students. After all, the main result of a teacher's work is the victories of our students, which they achieve in their professional activity. Their achievements are the deserved reward of teachers!”

Maxim Sergeevich Lipatov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Thermal Power Plants and Thermal Engines of Ƶ:

“To teach students to learn, think and work independently, you need to constantly learn yourself. I am a thermal power engineer by vocation and education, and I am an eternal student, because I must constantly develop, enrich myself with knowledge and discover new and useful things for students to awaken their love for the profession. The secret of success of our work is love. Love for knowledge, science, business and for future professionals. This is our craft, and then there is patience, responsibility and everything else...”

Tatiana Alexandrovna Sergeeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Textile Technology and Design, Ƶ:

“The main secret of the profession of a higher school teacher for me is to see in the student a person, a personality. It is necessary to understand what he/she wants and strives for, and then try to fit into the trajectory of his/her movement yourself and what you want to teach. It is important to remember that the student in the class is not a spectator at the recital of the teacher, but a partner”.

Anastasia Igorevna Smirnova, associate professor of the Department of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry at Ƶ, said:

“The instructor acts as a mentor who facilitates the student's mastery of his favorite business, search for his place in life and become a professional in his chosen field. The instructor's benevolent attitude to students, although not the only condition, serves as a catalyst for successful interaction in the classroom and achievement of high academic results. Continuous self-education of the instructor and interaction with experienced professionals maintain interest in the profession, increase self-esteem, and inspire. This inspiration, in turn, can be passed on to students.”

Yuri Vladimirovich Zementsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Production Organization at Ƶ, said:

“Teaching is a very creative activity. Here do not work templates and techniques, you always need to react flexibly and adjust to the audience, which is different for each pair. Besides, they are mostly young people, you have to match their energy and direct it in a constructive direction. At the same time you develop yourself, and this feeling of self-actualization is very valuable and important for me. And the opportunity to observe the personal growth of students makes the teaching profession truly inspiring”.

Ekaterina Andreyevna Vikulina, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Graphic Design in the Art Space of Ƶ, said:

“In any profession the main thing is to love your work. The desire to share knowledge and at the same time to develop oneself, to fill one's life with interesting events, to get new impressions - all this makes a teacher interesting for students. Teaching is primarily a human interaction, so it is important to be sensitive and attentive to your audience”.

Vlada Vladislavna Lurie, Associate Professor of Physics at Ƶ, said:

“The teaching profession is my calling. I believe that it is a very valuable quality to be able to find an individual approach to conducting classes. It is important to be able to explain complex things in simple words. The skill of a teacher is not only to give a base of knowledge, but also to reveal in students their creative potential”.

Alexander Alexandrovich Bruev, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Book Publishing and Book Trade, Ƶ, said:

“The most exciting thing in a teacher's work is to help students realize their creative projects. In our case, these are books, magazines, and other publications. The creative process is never easy, it is always a challenge, and not only for the student, but also for the teacher: you start to pay attention to literature that you did not know about before, to comprehend new approaches to the realization of projects and unusual combinations of ideas that seemed incompatible. And, of course, it is especially pleasant to see how students are involved in such work - they try to make sure that the book will certainly find its reader, anticipate his requests and requirements for the publication. I think that's how love for their future profession manifests itself".

Margarita Kimovna Aipova, Associate Professor of the Costume Design Department of Ƶ, said:

“I am eternally grateful to fate that for 24 years I have been working with talented and creative students. Teaching work requires constant learning and not standing still. Our graduates are winners of all-Russian and international competitions and exhibitions. Not only the university, but the whole Russia is proud of their names. In this context I would like to recall a quote from Boris Levin's poem: “...”. teacher, educate a student, so that there is someone to learn from”.

Yuri Vyacheslavovich Kashuba, Associate Professor of the Department of Spatial Environment Design, Ƶ:

“According to my deep conviction, the important role of higher education is to instill in each student his or her own understanding of the nature of things. Therefore, the duties of a teacher in the field of design and engineering include not only teaching the rules and systems accepted in the profession, but also the way of thinking about the task at hand, searching for new approaches and solutions. I would call it a kind of philosophy of attitude to space and the material world”.

Anastasia Mikhailovna Smirnova, Associate Professor of the Department of Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials and Jewelry of Ƶ, said:

“Mark Twain said that a person has two most important days in his life: the day he was born and the day he realized why. Teaching at Ƶ disciplines related to modern digital technologies, which is my main area of interest, broadcasting my constantly improving skills and observing the results and commitment of students, I understand why I was born, and I feel my usefulness and vocation in the teaching profession. In my opinion, the secret of the higher education teaching profession lies in the trinity of self-reflection, adaptability and mutual respect”.
