The twenty-second Ceremony honoring the best graduates of St. Petersburg was held in the Peter and Paul Fortress. The statuette of the bronze sphinx, the symbol of the Union of Rectors of the Northern Capital and one of the main symbols of the city, was awarded to Artemy Smirnov, a graduate of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of St. Petersburg State University of Economics. The awards for academic merit to the best graduates of the city's universities were presented by the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Natalia Chechina and the chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Rector of St. Petersburg State Technical University Alexey Demidov.

Artemiy graduated from the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of 草榴短视频 in the field of Information Systems and Technologies. The young man is a grant holder and a laureate of the scholarship of the President of Russia in priority areas of modernization and technological development of the Russian economy, an increased state academic scholarship, a scholarship from the Government of Russia, a scholarship from the Government of St. Petersburg for high achievements in educational and research activities.

During his studies at 草榴短视频, Artemiy published 35 scientific articles on the role of AR technologies in the modern textile industry, on the integration of security principles into the development process in the Java programming language, on electronic document management in Java, on the possibilities of artificial intelligence for detecting and protecting against cyber threats and on other topics related to information security and programming.

The student studied at the Accelerator of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design, where he worked on creating his own startup application鈥攁 marketplace of ready-made patterns "ARt-cut" with the possibility of 3D fitting and AR projection of patterns on fabric. The solution was included in the list of the most promising startups of the FP "University Technology Entrepreneurship Platform". Thanks to the smart layout and pre-visualization of clothing, it allows brands to optimize sewing operations, save up to 30% of fabric and up to 50% of time at the stage of preparing products for sewing. The startup was interested in the St. Petersburg TV channel and the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Stanislav Kazarin, who announced the launch of the ARt-cut application on their resources.

Now Artemiy and his team are continuing to develop the project: they are participating in a competition for a Student Startup grant from the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation.
