The light industry cluster of Ƶ presented at the TASS press conference

The TASS office in St. Petersburg hosted a press conference dedicated to the 2024 admission campaign and the implementation of the federal project "Professionalitet", admission to the programs of which has started all over Russia. In 2022 St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design entered the first wave of the program. On the basis of the university college, a training and production cluster focused on the production of footwear and leather goods was created. The cluster was headed by the representative of the industry - General Director of the Factory of non-standard footwear "Mercury", Head of the Department of Design and Technology of leather goods named after Prof. A.S. Shvarts of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design Sergey Scherbakov. Answering the moderator's questions in the TASS office, he revealed the level of satisfaction of enterprises with the level of students' education and the factors of attractiveness of business interaction with the University of Industrial Technologies and Design.

The University of Industrial Technologies and Design is the pioneer of "Professionalitet", we can say so. In 2022, we were among the first 70 educational institutions in Russia to join the federal project "Professionalitet". The very idea of "Professionalitet" implies deep involvement of employers in the training process. If earlier employers could make claims to educational organizations on the subject of who you train (and we, as employers, cannot, so to speak, take a person and immediately put him in the workplace), now it is more difficult to make claims, because we ourselves are involved in the process and become participants in it. And the extent to which the employer is deeply immersed in this process is the extent to which he is satisfied in the end.

In 2022, on the basis of the university college, we created a cluster that trains specialists for the production of footwear and leather goods. It included 5 enterprises: 2 leather goods and 3 shoe manufacturers from St. Petersburg, including the company "Moderam", which produces special footwear, as well as a company dealing with non-standard and orthopedic footwear. But during the functioning of the cluster 3 more factories have joined us. That is, the cluster is growing, factories are joining, it shows that they are interested and in demand. Large manufacturers of children's footwear - JSC "Egorievsk-Obuv", producing under the brand "Kotofey" children's shoes, and the Group of Companies "Vostok Service", producing special footwear, have joined. That is, the interest and involvement is quite deep in our case.

First of all, the enterprises participate in the creation of the competence model, i.e. the enterprises together with the university create, work out this model of a graduate that the factory needs. Our graduates receive a diploma of technologist-designer of leather goods, that is, it is practically an engineering specialty. And it is very extensive. And it is important to understand that it is not an easy task for enterprises and educational organization to leave only necessary competences, not to dilute them, because the terms of training are shortened, it is necessary to allocate the most necessary, the most necessary and very well, so to speak, to pump all these skills in students.

In addition to creating a competency model, our enterprises take part in the development of work programs for students, participate in practice, and eventually they participate in the final certification, because it is held in the format of a demonstration exam. This year, we had experts from enterprises come here, and they evaluated what the students had learned in the demo exam. It was quite complicated: in fact, students, having received a task - a photo of shoes and a shoe shoe lasted for a limited amount of time, which is about 5-6 hours, created a full design and technological documentation, developed a model and in the last hour showed skills of working with equipment. That is, they assembled a shoe upper blank completely on the equipment with their own hands.

We teach the guys the technology of shoe production, we teach them to design shoes, to work with equipment. Thus, a graduate when leaving the walls of the university college in general has a wide choice where he can find himself. We are all different: someone likes to work with equipment, and he will continue to work as a machine operator; someone will get into the department of technologists; someone likes designing and modeling, so he is a more creative person - he will create models and designs at the enterprise. That is a very wide range of opportunities, and here it is important that enterprises already know students, understand their skills and aptitudes, and it is easier for students to realize themselves.

Our cluster is equipped with the most modern equipment. One of the sectors has a full-cycle production of footwear, so the guys can practice all their skills: working with equipment, technology and design, create their projects, implement them during practical training, defend them and become strong and in-demand specialists. In addition, our cluster is unique in that it was created on the basis of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design. A very large team is working on it, because the university college is in its structure. And that is why together with the university, new curricula have been developed within the university itself so that graduates could continue their studies further, get higher education without taking time off from work at the production site. That is, they go to work at the enterprise, the university has created a part-time form of education, special curricula have been developed so that the guys could get higher education and work in parallel.

We believe that we have a very interesting, creative, engineering, in-demand specialty. We are waiting for a large number of applicants, we invite to the College of Technology, Modeling and Management Ƶ to the Open Days, we are happy to conduct excursions, show our cluster, talk about our practice-oriented training, the admission committee is happy to answer all questions, we are waiting for guys motivated, interesting, strong applicants and after the 9th and after the 11th grade. After the 11th grade we have 2 years of study, after 9 - 3. And in 2-3 years we will welcome them with gratitude at the enterprise, and further they will start to develop our light industry and raise it to new heights.
