The digital department of Ƶ became the third in the North-West
12 April

The team of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design took the third place in the Marathon of Digital departments of the Northwestern Federal District. The marathon was held at the Maritime Technical University with the participation of 14 universities of the Northwestern Federal District. The team of each university was represented by three participants: a student, the head of the digital department, and a teacher.

Artyom Mukkel, a student of the Digital Department of Ƶ, presented a project on automating the processing and transmission of digital avatars at the Marathon. They are obtained using a growth 3D scanner in the university's Smart Design Laboratory, created by the university as part of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science's Priority 2030 program. As a result of scanning, you can get several files with a static and animated 3D model of a person, as well as a file with his measurements. Previously, several operations had to be performed manually to receive each file. The process was laborious and took a lot of time, now it is automated and ready for implementation in enterprises.

Nikolay Berkutov, head of the department of "Wayvaxess Service" LLC, lecturer of the digital Department of St. Petersburg State University, in his speech listed practically applicable tasks that are solved at the digital department of the St. Petersburg university, depending on the basic training of students:

"For economists, this is automation of data collection and analysis from Excel, charting for making informed financial decisions; for designers, photo editing and automatic formation of palettes from images to create ideal combinations in projects, optimizing the process of selecting color solutions, using artificial intelligence to enlarge photos, remove or replace backgrounds, generate references; for humanities — the development of chatbots based on artificial intelligence to conduct research and improve interaction with the audience, analyze the tonality of texts; for chemists - the development of programs that help simulate chemical reactions and determine their results."

Anton Soshnikov, Head of the Digital Department of the Ƶ, made a thesis on an individual approach to all students participating in the project.

"Almost 2,000 people study at the digital department of Ƶ in three programs: "Algorithmization and programming in Python", "Visualization of brand representation", "Web design". An individual approach and practice orientation are widely used in teaching: teachers, including from the industry, involve each student of the Digital Department in modern technologies, arousing high interest in trends and trends of global digitalization, and also present real cases of companies to solve. So, the students launched the educational project "Spectrum", which allows future designers to find their way in the profession, and their colleagues are developing a domestic complex for tracking eye movements commissioned by Brandy studio. With its help, it will be possible to return people with limited mobility to a full life," Anton Soshnikov said.

The performance of the teams was evaluated by Pavel Popov, Deputy General Director — Director of the St. Petersburg branch of JSC NIIAS, Alexander Solovyov, Head of the management of the unified online platform "Corporate University" of PJSC Gazprom Neft, and Konstantin Zvyagin, Deputy Head of the Mobile Solutions Development Department of Aurora OS.
