03 April

Inclusive employment is a priority for business companies. The final of the IX annual competition for students and young professionals with disabilities "Path to Career" has ended in St. Petersburg. The competition is held annually and helps businesses find new employees - young, enterprising and full of ideas.

Irina Bortsova, a student of the Institute of Textile and Fashion of Ƶ, became a finalist of the contest. During her school years Irina took part in inclusive projects of the Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation and "Children Waiting". She continued practicing at the University of Industrial Technologies and Design, already being a student. Today Irina is an inclusive volunteer of "MOST and K", a prize-winner of the All-Russian student shift on inclusive volunteering and inclusive tourism. Irina develops routes of accessibility of cultural objects for people with different disabilities, helps families with children with disabilities, participates in theater festivals, where she also assists people with hearing and vision impairment.

- Since I am a 3rd year student, I am already starting to think about employment. In the scientific and methodological resource center of inclusive and dual education of Ƶ I learned that there is a competition "Path to Career" and decided to try my hand, thanks to which I got answers to many of my questions related to work. I was not mistaken in my choice, because in its educational part it gave me the opportunity to attend a series of trainings and get advice from company representatives on job search technology, interviewing, presentation skills. Now I am registered on hh.ru and employers can see me, says Irina.

Marina Rudakova, a graduate of Ƶ, also became a finalist of the contest. The girl studied graphic design at Ƶ. In her life she often had to face difficulties due to the fact that people around her sometimes could not understand her speech, because Marina has a hearing impairment. After becoming a student at Ƶ, she found a team of like-minded people and launched a project to help hearing impaired students, their teachers and classmates so that children with disabilities could successfully adapt to their universities and their environment would not have problems communicating with hearing impaired people.

Today Marina manages the project "Territory of the Inclusive World" in her native university, is one of the top 25 "The Kindest People in St. Petersburg", and was awarded the Annual Volunteer Community Award of St. Petersburg in the nomination "Strength of Spirit".

- The "Path to Career" competition not only helped develop my thinking, but in general made my life more rich and colorful! It actually develops the fortitude, discipline, and stress tolerance so necessary in the workplace. When I came to the university and realized that there was a lack of communication between hearing and nonhearing students, I turned to the Department for the Development of Student Initiatives of Ƶ and proposed the idea of launching an inclusive project. The main result of my idea is to help teachers to adapt in communication with students with disabilities who study in prestigious universities on an equal footing with hearing students. The project aims to establish communication, to build relationships with each other. I am very grateful to the university for the opportunity, - Marina shares.

The organizers of the Path to Career contest were Prospect and the Business Council on Disability with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, Absolute Aid Charity Fund, CSS Charity Fund, and MTS PJSC.
