This time we went to Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic. We visited the national children's library, the oldest bookstore of the republic "Bookseller", as well as the largest printing enterprise of the republic "Komi Republican Printing House", where we learned about the secrets of printing, publishing books, and what problems regional publishers face.
"We not only got acquainted with the repertoire of the publishing department of the printing house, but also looked at the entire process of making books in the printing shops: paper cutting, printing, folding — now we know how it all happens. We also talked with the director of the printing house, Anna Viktorovna Churakova, about the state of regional book publishing, about what problems local publishers are trying to solve, and how the state helps them in this," said Olga Starkovskaya, associate professor of the Department of Book Publishing and Book Trade.
There was also a cultural program: we got acquainted with the monument to the 18th letter of the Komi alphabet "Ö", installed near the Komi Cultural Center, St. Stephen's Cathedral and a Fire tower, in the building of which the Department of the State Fire Service of the Komi Republic is now located.
