An interregional seminar of the St. Petersburg Education Committee was held in the Northern Capital, dedicated to the role of parental parenting style in the formation of social activity, professional motivation and adaptation of students with disabilities. The conversation was attended by teachers and heads of specialized departments of universities and colleges, students and their parents. The University of Industrial Technologies and Design was presented by Irina Yanyk, director of the Scientific and Methodological Resource Center for Inclusive and Dual Education of Ƶ, and Zurab Kupreishvili, a student of the university, together with his father.
Irina Yanyk shared the experience of the Center for Inclusive and Dual Education of Ƶ with families who educate students with disabilities.
"In my speech, I talked about a very important problem related to how to achieve a smooth, or "seamless" transition of a student from college to a higher educational institution, how motivated children with disabilities and their parents are to make a decision about admission to a university. After all, in this case it is very important to create a microclimate for a student who adapts to a new place. And I mean not only the university itself, but also the family. We work with the families of our students to make it easier for them to cope with the problems their children face during the changes that are happening to them," comments Irina Yanyk.
The seminar was also attended by Zurab Kupreishvili, a student of the Institute of Applied Chemistry and Ecology of Ƶ with Hearing Impairment, who entered the university after college, where he received a specialty as a laboratory chemist. Last year, Zurab took the third place in the regional championship of professional skills among people with disabilities and disabilities "Abilimpics" in the competence of "Laboratory chemical analysis".
"At the seminar, my father and I talked about building a relationship between a parent and an adult child, since family support is very important during the transition from college to university. Exact sciences are easier for me, so I chose chemistry. Now I am not only studying at the university, but also participating in professional skill championships. It seems to me that my example can help other children with disabilities to adapt more easily in life and in school," says Zurab Kupreishvili, a student at Ƶ.
"Zurab has a hearing disability. Sometimes he may not hear the teacher and not assimilate the material. At school, he was not accepted into the tenth grade, they said that he would not be able to pass the exams. I had to go to college. There he graduated without any problems, then entered a university, where he also manages to study. Last year, he even participated in the Abilimpix championship, took third place. The whole family is proud of him," says the student's father Zurab Kharitonovich Kupreishvili.
