On February 24, 2024, the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design held a public-talk "The Art of the Book in Students' Projects" organized by the university in cooperation with the First Model Printing House.
The meeting was attended by Galina Ustinova, head of the All-Russian Student Work Competition "Sytin's Cause", as well as Elena Rymshina, curator of independent projects and member of the competition's expert council. The participants of the meeting were students and teachers of art universities and colleges of St. Petersburg, the hall in the "Boiling Point - PromTechDesign" in Ƶ gathered more than 80 people.
Elena Rymshina's thorough and detailed review of the main trends of modern book design aroused great interest of the audience. In her speech, accompanied by an effective and thoughtful presentation, she told about the main trends in the design of book publications, reflected in the experimental design works of students. The works of the winners of the book design and illustration contests: the All-Russian open contest of student works "Sytin's Work" and the publishing contest initiated by the company "Expo-Park. Exhibition Projects".
Numerous and diverse questions of the audience testify to the undoubted interest of future designers to the changed requirements of the modern professional community. It is important for today's students to realize that classical education and fundamental knowledge of design principles, which they receive at universities, are not obsolete, moreover, they acquire new artistic forms and meanings.
