The Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design received a state award - he was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Science of St. Petersburg"

Governor Alexander Beglov, on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, presented state awards and decorations in Smolny. The honorary title "Honored Worker of Science of St. Petersburg" was awarded to 10 people - employees of leading scientific institutions of the Northern Capital. The Chairman of the Council of Rectors of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region universities, Rector of the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Professor Alexey Demidov was honored with this award for the development of new digital methods of evaluation and forecasting of the properties of materials and light industry products as part of a scientific team.

Special attention in predicting the operational processes of textile materials was paid to the description of the properties of fiber-forming polymers for the production of surgical threads, materials for parachutes, fiber nanocomposites with special properties, flame-retardant protective clothing, high-strength and bulletproof protective products, heat-resistant and heat-insulating covering materials. Similar research has not yet been conducted anywhere in the world.

President Vladimir Putin has set the task of strengthening Russia's technological sovereignty and leadership. The contribution of St. Petersburg scientists to this task is enormous. A sign of our respect for the merits of St. Petersburg scientists is a new award - the honorary title "Honored Worker of Science of St. Petersburg".
