The Energy girls team from St. Petersburg became the only female team at the "Games of the Future" in the "Battle of the Robots" discipline. The girls named their 110-kilogram pink-colored mentee Barracuda. The leader of the team was Alexandra Kravchenko, a student of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. She studies at the university in the profile "Information Technologies in Design". The girls took fourth place and earned 35 thousand dollars in prize money.

With the development, purchase of spare parts, electronics and mechanics, the construction of the robot took the team about a year. Some things were made by themselves, motors and controllers were ordered. The pneumatic system was made independently, and the girls sharpened parts for it themselves. Barracuda was assembled in the village garage at Alexandra's grandparents' dacha in the Leningrad region.

- Grandfather is not happy, his tool is taken. He's angry that we go there, running around. At first, no one at all understood what it was. But then they started to take a more positive attitude. Everyone was very interested to see what we could do. Now they were probably sitting and watching on TV, cheering for us. There are parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and friends. Everyone is watching, everyone is worried. No one understands anything, but it's very interesting, Alexandra shares.

The Energy girls reached the semifinals, but lost to the future champions - DS Robotics from India. In the match for third place, the Moscow team Turbomechatroniki literally sawed the Barracuda. Pieces of pink mangled metal were left from the plating. After the tournament, the girls were almost crying.

- Our steering problems came out of nowhere again, and he just couldn't ride anymore. That's okay, we'll rebuild it. It's a battle of the robots, no one can be sure of everything. It's just a little bit of electronics failing us, technology. It happens. There's always room for improvement, even for those who always win. Everything seemed to be fine, but at some point our robot just decided that it was tired, says Alexandra.

Despite the failure, in the future the team plans to enter the arena and hopes to prove that "flippers" (a type of robot whose main weapon is a tipper) can also occupy worthy places. By the way, the team conducted tests on the blanks of previous robots in the garage.

- Unfortunately, we don't have the opportunity to organize any fights, because the garage is small anyway, especially now it's winter season, and sometimes we can't even go for a ride. So all we have from training is the time we have in the ring when we come to prepare for the championship, - Alexandra explains.
