To the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the blockade
23 January

On January 27, 2024 Russia and St. Petersburg celebrate an important memorable date - 80 years since the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. The generation of heroes, who managed in inhuman conditions not only to keep the enemy out of their city and protect its architectural and cultural monuments, but also to preserve human dignity, has become a model for many generations.

The 872 days of the Leningrad feat will forever remain in history as an example of selfless love for the Fatherland, indomitable will and human spirit.

We congratulate the faculty, staff, students, veterans of the University, home front workers, residents of the Siege of Leningrad on the Day of Military Glory of Russia - the Day of the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of the city of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade by Soviet troops. We wish you good health, prosperity, creative success, peace, respect, care and love of your relatives and friends.

Illustrated and animated stories about the life of Leningrad residents during the blockade and the events of the Great Patriotic War will be presented at the interactive exhibition "Chronicles of the Siege of Leningrad". The exposition with the application of augmented reality is available for visitors from the main building of Ƶ on Bolshaya Morskaya Street, 18, in the Cultural and Exhibition Center of the Graduate School of Technology and Energy of Ƶ on Ivan Chernykh, 4. Part of the exposition is in the State Chapel. You can get acquainted with the stories and author's graphics of St. Petersburg students and teachers of creative universities until January 31. Then the exhibition will be presented in the St. Petersburg State University of Technology named after Prof. A. M. Bonch-Bruevich and in more than 10 cultural and exhibition spaces of St. Petersburg.

The main idea of the project is to recreate family archives about the Siege of Leningrad, about the events of the Great Patriotic War, thus preserving the true history. The interactive exhibition will be realized partly in a digital environment. Through graphic reconstructions, drawings and photographs, the project participants reflected memories, letters and memorabilia. Stories about the events of the Great Patriotic War, told by residents and children of the Siege of Leningrad, veterans to students, will come to life thanks to the work of St. Petersburg graphic arts students and designers.

"Today, as long as eyewitnesses of those terrible 900 days are alive, it is very important to preserve historical memory for future generations. It is necessary to hold open dialogues of veterans and their relatives with today's students. The language of fine arts and modern design technologies contribute to the visual reflection of how creative young people present the events of the war years through the stories of relatives and friends", - says the head of the project "Chronicles of the Siege of Leningrad", Associate Professor of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design Katerina Tugolukova.

The interactive exhibition "Chronicles of the Siege of Leningrad" was a continuation of the International Media Project "Chronicle of Victory: from the Family Archive" launched by the City Student Press Center of SPbGUPTD in 2018. The project was established and organized by St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design within the framework of the national project "Culture".
