The marketplace of ready-made patterns with AR projection on fabric is launched by startups of Ƶ
11 January

A team of students and graduates of the University of Industrial Technology and Design is launching an application marketplace of ready-made ARt-cut patterns with the possibility of 3D fitting and AR projection of patterns on fabric. Thanks to the smart layout and pre-visualization of clothes before purchasing a pattern, brands will be able to optimize sewing operations, save up to 30% of the fabric and up to 50% of the time at the stage of preparing products for sewing. The startup became a participant in the university's acceleration program in 2023. The solution was included in the list of the most promising university startups of the federal project "University Technology Entrepreneurship Platform".

"More than ten years ago, I launched my own brand of wedding dresses. It taught me how to use and save fabric efficiently. The more responsibly and carefully the cutter approaches his work, the less fabric is thrown away. Sometimes, with the correct layout of patterns, you can save up to five meters of fabric from one roll. In addition, we have accumulated a huge database of patterns, which has become difficult to manage, despite the fact that the process of preparing a finished pattern for sewing already takes from three to five hours. Thanks to the app, we want to solve these problems. Therefore, saving time and resources formed the basis of our idea," says Ekaterina Likhacheva, the leader of the startup, graduate of the master's degree in Fashion Tech at Ƶ, founder of the Lakshmi Fashion wedding brand.

According to Ekaterina, the startup also helps to reduce the consumption of clothing from the mass market by increasing the competitiveness of small brands. This will reduce the scale of mass production of products, and therefore the amount of waste produced. The application will become an important tool to reduce the environmental burden associated with the textile industry.

The marketplace application has no ready-made templates in Russia. The only foreign analog application is not available in our country, besides, the patterns presented in it correspond to European standards of clothing sizes that do not coincide with Russian ones. The startup plans to enter the CIS market.

The startup team includes Artemiy Smirnov, a student of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ, as an IT specialist, and Ilya Mokretsov, a student of the Institute of Information Technology and Automation of Ƶ, as a graphic designer. The team also has a professional cutter. Now the startup is looking for specialists in machine learning, AR technologies, developers of websites and mobile applications. The team is at the stage of creating a pattern layout system, taking into account the features of the drawing.
