The III International Forum of Graphic Design, which brought together more than 700 designers, specialists in the field of visual communications, representatives of design studios, advertising and digital agencies, publishing houses, web studios and universities from Russia, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia and Thailand, ended in St. Petersburg. The organizer was the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ. The forum included lectures and master classes, an extensive program of exhibitions and competitions of creative works for professionals and students, as well as a scientific and practical conference and excursions to the leading design studios of St. Petersburg.
Alina Sukhareva, Director of the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ, made a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the forum. She noted the unique format of the forum, the ever-growing interest in it from well-known Russian specialists and foreign colleagues who study modern trends and problems of graphic design. The guests of the forum were also addressed by the Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg Union of Designers Sergey Duzhnikov, Head of the Center for Creative Industries of the Capella Svetlana Kuropatkina, Head of the Russian Museum's sector for work with youth audience Anton Sheverdyaev, Chief Artist of the publishing house "Arcadia" Alexander Andreychuk, Director of the City Student Press Center of Ƶ Ekaterina Tugolukova, Head of the Department of Educational Work Lyudmila Vinogradova, Master's student of the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ Pan Shoyu.
Forum events united several venues in St. Petersburg, including the University of Industrial Technologies and Design, "Boiling Point - PromTechDesign" Ƶ, the Laboratory of Virtual Fashion and Digital Design Ƶ, the studio of computer animation "Peterburg", animation film studio "Melnitsa", film studio "Lenfilm" and the Russian Museum. Excursions, lectures and master classes were held here for the forum participants.
A series of master classes from leading experts in graphic design, animation, digital media production and game design became one of the forum's highlights. Ekaterina Soboleva, designer of MYGRIBS communication agency, demonstrated the peculiarities of the digital format in the design of posters, posters and posters. Svetlana Kuropatkina, Director of the Creative Industries Center of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg, spoke about interdisciplinary project schools in the field of creative industries. Game designers, teachers of the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ Anna Falina and Roman Ivanov presented the peculiarities of quest and dialog development in video game projects, and teacher Victoria Yepanyan showed the possibilities of character animation.
The VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Graphic Design: Traditions and Innovations" was held within the framework of the forum. The participants in their reports raised problems devoted to a wide range of contemporary artistic practices, in which visual design and digital technologies closely interact. The conference was also attended by graduate and undergraduate students of the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ.
In December in the main building of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design the works of the participants of the International exhibition of creative works of teachers and designers "Dialogue 11: Tradition and Innovation in Contemporary Art" and the International exhibition-competition of design projects, course and diploma works of students "Master and Pupil" with the participation of students and teachers from Russian and foreign universities are exhibited. The winners and prize-winners of the contest were determined by an expert jury chaired by Alexander Andreychuk, Chief Artist of Arkadia Publishing House, member of the Union of Designers of Russia.
Reference: For the first time the Forum started its work in 2021 on the basis of the International Conference "Graphic Design: Traditions and Innovations" of the Institute of Graphic Design Ƶ. The Forum aims to create a multifunctional platform for the exchange of experience and discussion of current problems of graphic design, the relationship between tradition and innovation in design, as well as professional training of graphic designers in the rapid development of digital technologies.
