Students of Ƶ and Komsomolka put things in order in the former "dog prison"
09 November

Brave volunteers are students of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ, who joined the Komsomolskaya Pravda campaign to help a dog shelter in the village of Lagolovo.

Animal rights activists have been sounding the alarm about the "Island of Hope" shelter for several years. He was quartered on the territory of a poultry farm. The dogs were kept in filth, hunger and cold. When the owner of the shelter stopped paying rent, she was asked to vacate the territory. The Leningrad region gave her a large plot nearby, but the dogs were never taken out of the factory. There are about a hundred animals left here, many of which have not left their "cells" for years. Now this place is called "Dobrodog" — the dogs were taken under the care of activists.

The volunteer girls from The Ƶ were instructed to put together blanks from pallets for the floor of future aviaries, and the guys were thrown into old squalid aviaries that need to be broken down to free up space for construction. The hostess of the shelter conducts an excursion under the sound of hammers.

The shelter is still a depressing sight: you walk and dodge sticking nails and wires. The names of long-dead dogs are on the doors, and I don't even want to think about what squelches under my feet.

The appeal of Komsomolskaya Pravda to help the shelter was answered not only by the students of Ƶ, who helped to break the rot and put in order part of the shelter's territory, but also by the St. Petersburg company "Biosphere", which operates a network of pet stores.

There is still a lot of work in the shelter. So far, only the dismantling of the old aviaries is underway. A little later, they will start building new ones, so the "Good-natured" needs strong male hands all the time.
