Ruslan Timerbayev, a student of the Department of Journalism and Media Technologies at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (Ƶ), made it to the finals of the Mediacode All-Russian Competition of Student Media Centers with an incredible photo story of Russian prosthetist Anton Kruglov.

Ruslan helped the doctor to create the book "Anthropology of a cyborg", worked side by side with him for almost a year: he photographed Anton Kruglov's patients with various problems, who came to their savior from all over Russia, helped to develop the concept and form of information presentation. Thanks to the doctor, each of the patients was able to restore the function of movement. Anton Kruglov's book is a guide in modern prosthetics, a hint for future or current prosthetists, a basis of knowledge for patients.

Only 22 works made it to the finals of Mediacode. As a finalist Ruslan was invited for an internship in the press center of the Forum "Science of the Future - Science of the Young", which will start on September 20 in the city of Orel.
We offer you to plunge into Ruslan Timerbayev's reflections on his work with Anton Kruglov and to see the author of the book as the student of Ƶ saw him in the lens of his camera.
- We think we know those around us, but more often than not we are wrong.
I would like to tell you about one person who makes people happy every day. This man is not a pastry chef, a florist, or a jeweler. He creates much more important things: he gives people the opportunity to regain their motor skills.
As a photographer in St. Petersburg, I met girls who knew Anton as a doctor. They were at my photo shoot, which is where we met.
Do you know what lies behind the personality of the cheerful and young doctor, to whom people from all over Russia were drawn for treatment? He had the idea to create a book that would show his colleagues the availability of modern technologies and methods of free upper limb prosthetics. After that, we started working on Anton's book. His patients came from all over Russia because they had heard about his talent. I was interested in his professional path, and so, during the photo shoots, I gradually got to know this unusual man.
At one of the regular meetings in the studio, in between shoots, I learned something new every time. One of such discoveries for me was the news that after receiving his diploma he did not immediately start working in his profession. At first, Anton was even engaged in repairing yachts. However, such a business did not last long, and he returned to his original profession - to help people. One of the main questions I was most interested in was: why did he need this book? And I was able to get an answer to my question: it will bring prosthetics to a new level, where colleagues do not hide useful information from each other, but share it.
Of course, it is impossible not to talk about his patients. They were all extremely positive and eager to gain new abilities that would open up the whole world to them. Each of Anton's patients shared their difficult story with me. They are all incredibly different. But they are united by their calmness and rationality.
Work on Anton Kruglov's book continued for a year. It combines modern prosthetics techniques that can bring this field of medicine to a new level.
